Who’s supporting Trump?

True enough, we all tend to find our information silos, just cuz I haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I don’t think they’re the same but I do think there’s not a LOT of daylight other than in facade.

Perhaps so, but I’d like to see him do things he campaigned on like rescheduling cannabis, solitary confinement, death penalty, etc. And also D’s not capitulate and hand them circuit court appointments or give Trump dictator type power.

Within the last two weeks the Dems gave Trump four circuit court appointments and passed a bill to give Trump authoritarian power…and you think a little nepotism from an outgoing president is fighting back?

I agree brother. I’m a bummer though; I used to think they were just spineless, but around 2011-ish I became convinced most of them are in on the hustle. (Fuck it, nothing matters anymore. I want the Biden fam to get lit on crack and throw a goddam rager. Just trash the WH before Trump moves in🥳🤬)

That’s what came across on your comment, i was thinking of all the gleeful cheering in the op’s replies. I get the sentiment but i think it’s better to have credibility for when Trump pulls shit. They wanna sack up for nepotism but in the same week give Trump 4 circuit court picks.

For sure. Hell I might say fuck it and pardon my son too. It’s still not a good precedent to set. Just weird to celebrate it. Yeah, R’s manage to get shit done - awful shit but they get it done. We get to learn what a Senate Parliamentarian is 😫

I get it. I guess i just haven’t really seen people being vocal about the Admin’s share of the blame that I’m having a hard time understanding. Is it a sense of hopelessness that they will ever do the right thing, but maybe the 3rd party voters will?

dcj7122.bsky.social @dcj7122.bsky.social · 02/12/2024
I think Trump sucks bro. I wish our elected Dems brought that fighting energy to M4A, or min wage, or anything to help the people. Pardoning his son doesn’t impress me as tough.

Very true. Just meant they love gun charges so much they’ll prosecute when it’s bogus, let alone when it’s actually warranted.

It’s always been standard liberal doctrine that half the things on that list are inherently untrustworthy. Trusting Trump isn’t better for sure but can we please not normalize this??

I don’t understand people celebrating a president pardoning his son, whoever he is. If Trump did this we’d all - correctly - be shouting about corruption. Is politics just about sticking it to the other side now without any consistency in principles?

Yes they’re all hypocrites and Kennedy is trash who has a lot shitty ideas, but we can all agree that getting rid of hfcs and artificial dyes is still a good thing right? We don’t have to give him props, just we’re all on board with that. Let’s please not switch sides on this now.

Just answering your questions 👍. But you’re absolutely right: shit sucks for so many people under one admin, the next candidate says “shit sucks. I’ll fix it.” He wins and shit still sucks under him - rinse and repeat.

I remember when we all knew intelligence services suck, and big pharma should be scrutinized. But cia didn’t like Trump and became “a sacred institutions” and pharma became “the science” That the revolving door corrupts govt, was standard liberal dogma. With Kennedy saying it, who knows? 🤷‍♂️

Fetterman is going to be the next ‘Rotating Villian’ if D’s get a majority again, replacing Synema. “Gee, we wanted to do xyz but Fetterman [shrug] Well what ya gonna do?” His whole working-man schtick was bullshit.

I feel you. I think too we’ve got some learned helplessness. Like when R’s say they’re gonna cut rich folk taxes or whatever horrible shit, they get it done. D’s give us the senate parliamentarian. That and it’s considered an axiom that any criticism at all helps Trump.

I know this sounds like an attack, but I’m asking in good faith bc i don’t understand. Why is the anger directed at voters and never directed at the admin who has the power to end the genocide if it’s the right thing to do and would help defeat Trump. Is there a calculus I’m not seeing?

Tell who? Who in Texas is saying Russia has a right to Ukraine bc it was once theirs? This is a straw man to get people worked up. (Aside - The US definitely stole that land from Mexico, but Alaska was bought free of coercion - people even thought we got shafted. So that’s not an apt reference.)

Personally, b/c he railed against the deep state, MIC, empire and duopoly and then joined it; and also against those things but oddly pro-Izreel. But I agree, reflexively rejecting EVERYTHING worries me. Getting chemicals out of our food shouldn’t be controversial.

It’s disheartening to see people who claim to champion science - and compassion - write/share a post that suggests recovery from addiction disqualifies someone from being a health advocate. Dude’s a hypocrite for sure - there’s plenty of examples - but not because of that.

…or vote for disruption. Take for instance the 7-9mil people who voted for Obama in ‘12 then Trump in ‘16. Not saying it was a good idea. But I do believe the Harris campaign was awful and the D party needs to get their shit together.

Okay: Because the Dems have abandoned the working class, many people’s lives have gotten materially worse under both parties. They’re disenfranchised so to them it’s not possible to vote AGAINST their interests, that would imply there’s an option that advances their interests. So they don’t vote…

Me too, but they’re vocal and online. We don’t see the majority of the 89mil bc they’re not even acknowledged let alone discussed. (eg Favreau saying emphatically a MAJORITY of the country chose Trump. He got 77mil non-voters were 89mil). Turns out they’re mostly poor people of color who…

but rest assured I don't need an advanced degree in bovine gastrointestinal systems to know when I smell bullshit. I've seen a lot of people use their caricature of a Trump supporter to spew vitriol against whole groups of marginalized people, so I'm a bit touchy lol. Thanks again for clarifying.🤝

Thank you for clarifying. In that case I withdraw my indignation. I do agree that critical thinking is essential. A friendly suggestion if I may, 'educated' tends to be understood to mean 'college educated' regarding voter demos. Perhaps there's a different word that captures your meaning.

Media sucks, but it was a shit campaign. I kept hearing about reaching the mythical "Haley Republicans." All 6 of them? Pal around with Dick fucking Cheney to get a couple? Agreed on Sanders but they would never do that. I remember prominent D's saying they would vote for Trump over him.
