Any chance you remember what this sci-fi story was called?

100

D.C. Greschner @dcgreschner.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

This is such a good point and one I have been struggling with. How can one come up with a truly unique alien concept when there is a SUCH a huge diversity of life on Earth???

100

D.C. Greschner @dcgreschner.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

This is a compelling theory! I like it because it plays devils advocate to Neil deGrasse Tyson’s take that it’s unlikely aliens evolved to be like humans. Good to have multiple viewpoints.

D.C. Greschner @dcgreschner.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

I’m doing a talk at an observatory next month on unique alien characters in sci-fi and compare humanoid aliens and non-humanoid aliens. The audience will be the general public who are touring the observatory. Let me know in the comments if you have any ideas you think would be interesting 👽. #scifi

I actually preferred Dr. Moreau. It’s definitely darker.

I like the short story “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury (very relevant to today’s issues of technology taking over our lives).

D.C. Greschner @dcgreschner.bsky.social · 18/05/2026

Ooo I really like the short story “Grandpa” by James H Schmitz. Cool exobiology concept with a bit of a plot twist. H.G. Wells wrote several good ones, like War of the Worlds, The Island of Dr. Moreau, The Time Machine.
