#MovieReview: COMÉDIE-FRANÇAISE A French farce about the final hours before the premiere of Shakespeare's play with the title no actor dares speak when not actively performing it. Wonderful in its low-keyness, allowing the exaggerations of theatre to speak for themselves without overdoing it.

Movie Review: DO US PART If I made year-end top ten lists, this little out-of-nowhere surprise would be on it for 2026. Writer/director Reed Arnold co-stars alongside Kelly Russo and Travis Laughlin in this fantastic wedding day indie full of laughs and heart. Review link below.

#MovieReview: The End of Oak Street Here's a movie that asks the audience to engage with it a little more than usual by specifically NOT giving us the kinds of characters we expect. It's a movie that feels a little small, but huge at the same time. Review link below.

Thrilled to share the cover and pub date for my next book!

YIPPEE KI-YAY: "DIE HARD," BRUCE WILLIS, AND THE REINVENTION OF THE ACTION MOVIE — an in-depth look at the origin, production, and legacy of the original 1988 classic, as well as its various sequels and rip-offs — is out 5/11/27!
The cover for YIPPEE KI-YAY is red with black and white type, and an abstract but cool silhouette of a figure in free-fall while attached to a fire hose.

#DisclosureDay is the Steven Spielberg film I've been waiting to review. It's the Spielberg film I've been waiting for, period. The close of an unofficial trilogy—CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND and E.T. being the first two films—and it is wonderful. (Review link below)

#MovieReview: Deep Water There’s a better movie in here somewhere; the best Deep Water can do is rise to the ceiling that’s trapping it from becoming one. Performances are good and Renny Harlin guides things well, but the script dooms the characters to being one-note caricatures. Link below.

MOVIE REVIEW: #Hoppers My first favorite of 2026. It's a rare film that has its cake, eats a slice, then shares it with the rest of us, as far as being a morality lesson, carrying a heavy environmental message, and being a completely entertaining and fun movie about friendship. @ofcs.bsky.social

The poster of PROUD PRINCESS, which does that thing where the two leads are towering above three secondary characters in the middle. Background: a blue sky with clouds for the top two-thirds; a castle, a windmill, flowers, and greenery occupy the bottom third, along with (from left to right) a king, a dude who looks like he's evil and scheme-y, an older woman carrying a dog, and a little kid at the lower right with his back to us.

#MovieReview: THE MORTUARY ASSISTANT dcfilmdom.com/2026/02/the-... I *never* go into a film with a preconceived negative outlook. You give everything a fair shake. But when the sentiment isn't returned, as I feel it wasn't with this one... well, sit a spell and have a read. @ofcs.bsky.social

Movie Review - WICKED: FOR GOOD dcfilmdom.com/2025/11/wick... A straight continuation of where WICKED: PART I left off in tone, tenor, and form. Musical numbers (save one) may not be as catchy and memorable, but the rest is solid. What a conclusion--well worth the year's wait. @ofcs.bsky.social
