Big news! We're expanding! Our newest location will be at 2003 Mt. Vernon Avenue in Del Ray, Alexandria! Our Del Ray location will feature our beers plus wine and cocktails, and a slick menu of creative takes on bar staples such as chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks, all house-made. We can't wait to show you more and will be documenting the process on our Substack, so follow us there if you'd like to see more details.
Del Ray will open later this year—we're already well underway on design and permitting, and we think this is going to be really great. Think Leesburg vibes with a thoughtful and expressive design that shows our personal growth these past few years. At DC Beer’s bottle share series, crowds of 30 to 50 beer fanatics show up at a local brewery, toting beers picked up in Belgium, the Falkland Islands and breweries in the D.C. area. See something that looks interesting? All you have to do is ask for a taste. You might make a new friend while finding a new favorite beer. The shares started in co-owner Brandy Holder’s backyard during the pandemic but have been held in public for the past two years. Holder is happy to introduce newcomers to the regulars, she says in an email: “The most wonderful part of this is that once we see a new face, we more often than not see them come again. It’s definitely my favorite part, knowing that we created a positive and inviting space that folks are eager to come back to.”

Good morning, Town Center Market in Riverdale, MD could use your help.

Hello Neighbors,
I want to bring an urgent matter to your attention regarding Town Center Market (TCM).
For many of us, this isn't just a business; it's a gathering place. Whether it's Friday afternoon happy hours, drinks with friends after volleyball or soccer, or watching a game on the weekend, Town Center Market adds tremendous value to our daily lives.
Unfortunately, they are facing a licensing challenge that could force them to entirely close their bar (on-site consumption). They have operated their bar for ~10 years but the Liquor Board is now asserting there is no legal basis for them to operate this bar. To be clear, there is a legal basis, which is Md. Code, Alc. Bev Article, Section 26-1104(e).
Regardless, we have an opportunity to help them stay open. A hearing is scheduled for February 11. If you have a positive story about the business or simply want to advocate for them keeping the ability to serve on site, your voice is needed now more than ever.
Action Item: Please email the Director of the Board of License Commissioners (Liquor Board), Terence Sheppard, at tsheppard@co.pg.md.us to express your support for TCM. Just a few sentences explaining why you value the business can go a long way. I am including a draft email below your your convenience; feel free to copy and paste. Please include your name and address because the Board heavily weighs the opinions of people who live in the immediate vicinity.
