Vampire Savior (1997) This is my forever game. The amount I actually play fighting games has dwindled heavily since 2019, but I can say with zero doubt that getting into Vampire Savior is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Its allowed me to express myself in ways nothing else has, and-

Persona 2: Innocent Sin (2011*) Most people I knew had played P3/4 at that point, but I had wanted to play them in order. I enjoyed P1 despite its rough edges, but Persona 2 grabbed me in a way very few things do. All the characters are great, but Maya and Eikichi are ones I hold with me most.

Nier (2010) I first played Nier at a very low point in my life, not really knowing anything about it. The game impacted me in such a profound way (when I needed it most) that I made it a point to get a 'traveling' copy that made it's way through my friends, and gave away many copies as well.

Street Fighter IV (2009) Like many others, SF4 was when I first got into fighting games with the intention to learn. I have pretty mixed-to-negative opinions on SF4 as a game, but it opened to door for me to meet some of the greatest people in my life, and for that I owe it everything.

A friend sent me this image, titled 'shootsnukes.jpg' on AIM in 2009. This stuck with me, and a close up of it is my fightcade PFP.

I came to some level of notoriety in the tristate area for my Dan play through the entirety of SF4s life span.

Sometimes you just need to be like +6 on block and have the world's funniest reversal safe crossup.

World of Warcraft (2004-2009) There's absolutely too much to say here, but my computer crashing during WoW character creation on November 23rd, 2004 altered my life trajectory entirely, and eventually led into me getting into fighting games. Terrifying to think about for too long, but critical.

One of the few screenshots I still have from 2005-2006 era WoW.

I feel like this picture explains a lot very quickly if you have any familiarity with World of Warcraft during that time period.

The morning after I got the world first, I got on the bus for school and the person sitting next to me said 'congrats' having heard about it, absolutely surreal.

Final Fantasy XI (2000) My important Final Fantasy game. I played through the entirety of it sitting w/ my childhood dog, Chip. Loving Vivi after Mallow seems like a natural progression, & started my love of faceless characters. If you ever want to learn a lot about me, you'll find it in FF9.

Super Mario RPG (1996) I was very fortunate to play some iconic JRPGs at a young age (Earthbound/Chrono Trigger) but SMRPG was the first one I owned and fell in love with. Mallow became an important, favorite character to me, and I got exposed to pantomiming-as-comedy very early (+ alt text)

My very loved childhood strategy guide.

When I was a child, this game impacted me so much I would line up my toys in jrpg battle lines instead of smashing them together like King Kong

I had a hard time reading the whole paragraph at the time, so my mom noted in the Axem Rangers axes of the proper order to defeat them in.

Who would wish for that, that would be so weird!!

Mega Man X (1993) I first played this at my older cousin's house and immediately got obsessed with it. He eventually gave me the cartridge. It was one of the first games I streamed in 2009 (s/o to flash media live encoder) and is a comfort game, and areminder of our infinite potential

Plok (1993) A screenshot of my score from one of my yearly~ Plok streams, this was 2020. Plok was a game that I rented a ton as a kid, but never beat until September 23rd, 2010. Most people know it for its soundtrack, but I really love everything about it. It's perfect, to me.

While the esoterics part of the Morrigan tutorial is a ways off, this clip highlights some of the things I love about the character 1. Air Darkness Illusion makes Morrigan recover facing backwards 2. Vertical dash has higher priority than the turn around animation, letting you vert dash backwards
