Just released DBOS Python 3.0 and DBOS TypeScript 5.0! Highlights include schema changes (splitting workflow inputs and outputs into their own tables) that substantially improve performance at scale, especially when data volumes are large. Also large optimizations to workflow retention policies.

Really enjoyed this write-up on how they built Fern Agent. It's a good example of durable agents with DBOS in action: checkpointing model and tool calls in the same Postgres the agent already uses, then picking up where it left off after crashes or deploys. buildwithfern.com/post/buildin...

I spend less time clicking around web UIs and more time in the terminal these days. CLI tools are often easier for agents to understand and use, and they're becoming easier for me too. I can type what I want, ask an agent to run it, or use them in CI/CD pipelines.

Just released DBOS Python 2.30 and TypeScript 4.26. The biggest new feature is that multiple DBOS applications (even those written in different languages) can now share a system database. This makes it much easier to build interoperable, polyglot DBOS applications. docs.dbos.dev/explanations...

Even though I'm a big fan of Postgres, its lack of loose index scan is frustrating.. The workaround is a recursive query that effectively acts as a loop, which is even more bizarre. Check out this new blog post about the performance issue with Postgres SELECT DISTINCT: www.dbos.dev/blog/postgre...

We wrote a new blog post on why co-locating workflow state with your data is powerful: www.dbos.dev/blog/co-loca... When workflow metadata and application data live in the same database, they can be updated in the same transaction. That simplifies tough problems like atomicity and idempotency.
