Back before chip readers were common, I had a woman demand to speak to my manager when her card wouldn't read due to the magstripe on the rear being worn out. "I know there's money on it!" She shouted. My manager told her that I didn't know what I was talking about and gave her the meal for free.

As I've aged, I've found that the best friendships go both ways. If the other party can't reasonably put the effort into the friendship that you do, initiating social interactions and setting dates or gatherings, then I'm of the opinion that it's not fair for you to exhaust myself trying.
