A graphite pencil sketch in a multi-colour fresco. Draughtsman. Craftsman. Constant reader. Books. Art. Music. Film. Stories are the drivers. If you're gonna do it then you'd better do it right. Choose generosity. DM = Block for unknowns. Keep it real.

To die, to sleep; To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the fucking rub; For in that sleep of death what dreams may come when have shuffled off this mortal coil, must give us pause.

It's hard to credit that BBC journalism was once something of a voice for the voiceless, rather than the megaphone for the moronic it presents as today. The duplicitous oxygen-thief above played more than his part in that unwelcome change. Rate among the worst of the worst.

So satisfying to see Eddie Mair call 'it' exactly what it is - was, and ever shall be - back in 2013 . . . an interview De Pfeffle could only bluff, blunder and bullshit his way through. (Nothing new there.) www.theguardian.com/politics/vid...

25 or 6 to 4 - Chicago leapt into my head. But I see that was posted on the original thread, so . . . Edge of Seventeen - Stevie Nicks. Or 4 & 20 - CSN&Y, a personal favourite for more decades than I care to examine.

Looking forward to the photos. :) You enjoy a good day too, Sean - in spite of the office.

'Hosting' looks suspiciously like a Director of Development chasing a handout by casting pearls before swine; doubtless while feeding them strawberries. Kowtowing to monied, entitled spherical bastards never ends well. The French attitude is healthier. They'd tell him to naff off - and rightly so.

That's Bowie, right there! He's in the work you clearly enjoyed immensely. :) Well done.

I went with the pre-order but . . . y'know . . . should you choose to publish a physical copy I'll take that too, and happily. Your charming, characterful illustrations deserve a lot of love in their own right. For me they deserve to be in print.

Thanks, Bart. I'm not sure it went exactly as I wanted . . . but we learn from mistakes. I remember enjoying the work at the time which is all important. There's always the hope (optimistic intention?) that subsequent projects might show improvement. ✨

Leotard Kate. Watercolour with coloured pencil.
Kate stands in green leotard - open gaze directed back towards onlooker . . . a question or a challenge. Hair loose. Hands over hips, thumbs held in a pink band. Nondescript green background.

'Somewhere In Between.' Graphite.
A liminal state somewhere before the wave of consciousness engulfs and breaks the dream.

A Kate Bush lyric played on a loop. Thus . . .

Somewhere in between
The waxing and the waning wave
Somewhere in between
The night and the daylight
Somewhere in between
The ticking and the tocking clock
Somewhere in between
What the song and silence say
Somewhere in between
Breathing out and breathing in.

Yes. They absolutely can. And, for me, that includes the friend my husband has known for 58 years since their first day at Grammar school, who is currently a Reform councillor for Lancs. I have known him just a decade less. Contempt is off the scale, and he is no longer considered 'friend'. FAFO

'Life in the universe is the most precious common value we share. Anyone who regards it as a tradable commodity is harming the advancement of human civilisation and will be remembered only to be despised.' We're all just playing for time. Soon would be good for that reckoning. I'd love to witness.

Fragile, wounded egos, seeking to protect their existence in the face of their own mortality, desperately trying to matter before the end. I particularly enjoyed Ai Weiwei's elegant message for the felon's birthday yesterday:

You can take the young street thug out of the street but, evidently, he still remains in the old white man eager to leave the legacy most reflective of his own image. A mobster cut from the same cloth as his orange felon friend.

Husband and daughter along with her partner attended last Friday's concert in Oxford. They were similarly - and suitably - impressed. Lovely to catch your post - one of very few positives in amongst today's doom and gloom. Art. It's necessary. Like breathing.

The film is full of charm. :) For me the song was new (Twilight's sparkly vampires failed to seduce much of my age group.), but you inspired me to seek out the Christina Perri track and listen to the whole thing. Really lovely. Another introduction. Thanks, Greg.

'What's this then?' Watercolour.
Hot summer day. Clear water. An adolescent girl wearing peaked cap and dungarees takes advantage of the shallows to cool down and explore the river bed. Her companion - water-loving Jack Russell terrier - supervises enthusiastically, just to make sure she's doing it right.

The 'blocking' issue is odd: still it's just audience numbers. Up? Down? It's only as relevant as you want it to be. Continue to say it as you see it. Those who matter won't mind, and those who mind don't matter. It's a gorgeous sunny day here in Midlands UK. Hope there's sun where you are, Dawny. ☀️

I'm fascinated by the contrasting bouncy, cheerful melody and a lyric that questions where the breaking point of mental endurance might lie. It suggests that amongst the emotional distress there is still hope. A timely message. 🌟 2pm currently Midlands UK. Good day to you, Greg. 👍Thanks for music.

Then my hope is that each word of condolence becomes an ember to warm you - not least during those 'shifts' that arrive unexpected. Good parents are a blessing, and carry you far even in their absence. Now your work is to carry her inside, in all the places you will be. I am sorry for your sorrow.

That is incredibly kind of you both. Thank you so much, Brian (?), Tim. A happy accident for me - outcome hugely appreciated. The book would be beautiful in its own right - given the inherent quality of 'The Bleeding Horse', and 'Some Thoughts on Horror'. Inscribed simply adds a layer to 'special'.

That you did. There's nothing to offend here. Not much to see either. I'm not sure the attempt at elegance quite hit the mark - it could use a little spice. Still, 'clean and comfortable' is key. Safe travels.
