Coincidentally, I was just now writing an email to a friend on that very topic—how a sangha can so easily become almost indistinguishable from the worldly society it was designed to reform (or escape).

October 18 reminded the Commander-in-Cruelty, his cabinet of yobs, and his cowardly confederates in the Congress that we prefer an admittedly messy democracy to a shambolic autocracy.

Because this administration thinks everyone believes the rules only matter when it helps “your side” (like they do), they are counting on Comey’s unpopularity to normalize this. Don’t let it. Whatever you think of him or his actions in the past, etc. this indictment is dangerous and an outrage.

‘No Kings’ protests nationwide to push back on Trump’s ‘overreach’
On the same day as the president’s military parade in D.C., thousands of people are expected to protest what they call his dangerous brand of authoritarianism.

The courts keep ruling against Trump, and he keeps ignoring the courts, because he is commander-in-chief and thinks the military backs him. He may be in for a surprise. Much of the military backs the Constitution rather than a rogue POTUS.

Canada became a country 158 years ago (as of this coming July 1), so the friendship between US and Canada has not been going on for several hundred years. That inaccuracy aside, Bernie’s observation is right on target.

I agree with those who characterize AOC as authentic. I am puzzled, however, by those who characterize her views as extreme. Have we come the point where being sensible is perceived as extreme?

Trump and Vance desecrated the Oval Office by bullying the leader of a sovereign nation that has been defending itself for three years against a vile dictator. The shame and damage they have brought to the United States is unrecoverable until they vacate the White House.

Trump responds to Washington plane crash with racist, ableist diatribe

The first thought I had when I read the news of the tragic accident at DCA was that Trump will find a way to blame Biden for it. A couple of hours later Trump was on TV—blaming Biden and Pete Buttigieg and DEI for the accident. The vindictive POTUS can’t stop himself from making a fool of himself.
