indeed, honestly I feel like the trope of the "chosen one" feels a lot more powerful when they come from a race that's discriminated or marginalized, that way the challenges feel a lot more personal and broader, instead of being a "I hate you just because you're the hero"

It's also one of the main reasons I like Elden Ring's story so much. The land is in ruins, in dire need of a new order, but if you want to establish a new order then you'll have to get rid of the old one first. Also the fact that it's humans who put the world in that state in the first place

Honestly, I agree, that's why in my lore all the main characters are yokai and the antagonist is a human. I feel like it's foolish to think only humans are capable of empathy, and a lot of people seem to forget that it's humans who are destroying the planet and themselves
