Canada is ready to take on the Trump threat x.com/krassenstein...

Has the republic already fallen? Despite Trump's blather and bluster, Elon Musk has control of the government. He was not elected or confirmed by the Senate, he's using a line-item veto that has no basis in law. He's cutting agencies and programs that were passed into law. There is no oversight.

Right now I'm struggling to find any reason to celebrate the coming of 2025. With Trump, Musk, and their minions in full control of the government, Putin continuing the slaughter in Ukraine -- and holding Trump's leash to boot.

RIP President James "Jimmy" Carter. Carter was the type of man this world needs. A man who walked the walk instead of just talking the talk. At least he'll be spared seeing what Donald Trump will do to the country he loved. Thank you for a life of service and virtue, Jimmy Carter.

Proverbs 1:7 contains a succinct description of anti-"woke" MAGA: "Fools despise wisdom and instruction."

Wondering tonight why people are setting off fireworks on Christmas Eve. Trying to keep Santa away? Seriously?

My initial impression of the first 12-team college football playoff is that eight would have been enough. All four game margins were by double digits. Indiana (!) came the closest, losing by 10. The rest were one-sided.

The incoming administration will actively seek to undermine faith in and ability to get vaccines. That same administration will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about truly deadly shots -- the kind that killed teenagers in Madison, Parkland, Sandy Hook, Columbine, and a long list of other school shootings.

President Biden, please pardon Leonard Peltier

Beginning to think I'm not qualified to be on this site. There are many brilliant minds on here. Sclentists, artists, researchers, so much more. Is there a place for an old former sports writer who's just trying to figure out how to keep democracy alive in the dystopian United States?

I have to admit that so far I'm not sure what I'm doing. Trying to get the hang of Bluesky. I'm more used to finding what interests me on the home page and going from there than in picking in advance from what seems a rather limited list of options. Tips anyone?

None of the above. Don't you just love multiple-guess tests?

I see the cat people mocked by Vance have made it here. Don't see any indication that the Swifties have followed. Me, I'm just trying to avoid saying something inappropriate about "beaver moon" and searching for some vestige of sanity following last week's election results.

Anna Ruby Falls in Northeast Georgia. Two streams have their separate falls adjacent to each other, then become one stream at the bottom.

Yeah, the pictures aren't great, but it's been years since I did any serious photography. Phones just aren't the same.

Since I posted Julia Sugarbarker (aka Jules) the Airedale already, here's the joyfully manic Lakeland terrier Bobo, doing his imitation of a dogwood tree.

So where all the terriers at?
