I've been on BBC Radio Nottingham today talking about The Unravelling of Mary Reddish (out tomorrow!). It's at 1:46:10 on the link below if you fancy a listen. PS I haven't listened back yet - let me know if it sounds horrendous! www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

I've given it a go, but I think I might have to call it a day on cosy crime. I get that there's a big market for it, but all the books I've tried - The Mystery Guest being the latest - don't do it for me. Crimes should have real consequences, shouldn't they, even in fiction?

A bit late to this one, but have just finished #LessonsinChemistry and found it as engaging and enjoyable as everyone says. But spare me the inner thoughts of the dog! Now I need to watch the Apple TV series to see how they tackle that...

This ‘fully recyclable gift wrap paper’ is the 21st century’s worst invention. I’m all for losing the plastic wrap and saving the planet, but is this the best anyone can come up with?

Sad to read about the death of David Lodge, a versatile author whose best works went well beyond his campus novels. My admiration for him even survived having to study Nice Work - and his famous deconstruction of the Silk Cut ad - at uni (poly, more accurately). I reckon we spent a month on that.

Great work by the team at Legend Press for the cover of my historical novel 'The Unravelling of Mary Reddish', which is out next year. Might be of particular interest to Nottingham folk as it's set around the old asylum in Sneinton. Some more details on Instagram: www.instagram.com/p/DDg6xTpA2e7/

#bookbloggers My email is full of review requests that begin something like: 'Hi, I'm Rick Doyle, a nomadic adventurer and tech company CEO, and I'd love you to review my dystopian YA novel about a world without lemurs.' Just to check - these are all fake, right? There aren't any genuine ones?

Thought I'd better post a pic of my cats to avoid getting chucked off here. Mavis and Molly. This is the closest you're going to get them - no chance of them sitting together and both looking cutely into the camera.

Making the move from X and I'd love to hear from fellow writers about: (1) Tips for debut authors (my debut historical novel is being published May 2025). (2) General quirky stuff on books - I love a list! Keen to avoid 'I'm querying and manifesting a full request' posts, though. #WritingQ #Books
