Obviously we all want Civil Servants to be creative and hard working. But this kind of language isn't what anyone wants to hear from their new boss. Indeed was prob only said so it could be leaked, which will further deflate morale.

So true. My two grandfathers didn't seem to be at wild parties. One was in a unit ordered to occupy Trieste as fast as possible before the Yugoslavs. The other, in 12 Group at the time, took part in a march past and heard a speech from an Air Vice Marshal (photo below)
