Had a great time reconnecting with an old friend yesterday. He’s an amazingly talented film composer and is just killing it lately! I love seeing my friends thrive and flourish doing what they love. Check out his work! ryanmarth.com

Yes! I’m so glad you enjoyed them! They’ve been my favorite band since like 2018, and I’m so happy more people are discovering them. Their latest album Air Guitar is fantastic. And the visuals on this video are 10/10 youtu.be/1yNe-ua3f9U?...

Anyone on here play Valorant? I need teammates to play comp/ranked. Solo queuing competitive with randos is crushing my soul.

What did you think of Sobs?? They’re one of my all time favorite bands.

For sure. I mean, I feel like all WNBA athletes (and the league as a whole) deserve more recognition and publicity. There are so many amazingly talented athletes, but the league so often gets overshadowed by more male-dominated sports.

Yeah I’ve heard a lot of people mentioning it being a first without being more specific. I think the confusion comes from the A’ja statue being at her former university, so it seems related to her college career. Even though it was unveiled after she was a WNBA player.

Doing sound for the legend herself, Sue Bird! She is now the first WNBA player to have her own statue!

I don’t know what I did to deserve this life, but I’m certainly not complaining. Just spent the past two hours listening to Nine Inch Nails rehearse.

My nerdiness has reached new heights. I spent all morning watching videos about Klingon music theory.

It’s great! I love that all the Serum 1 presets work flawlessly with it, and you can keep 1 & 2 installed and running concurrently, which is pretty cool. Also thanks again for letting me know Serum 2 was a free upgrade! I wouldn’t have known if it wasn’t for your stream.

Momma killed it last night. I spend so much time working with huge arena bands who lip sync to prerecorded vocals and use computers to make everything sound perfect, I almost forgot how refreshing it is to just be in a room with other humans playing, singing, and sharing art.

Making a spaceship game and teaching myself Unreal in the process. Here's spaceship prototype #1 with a fun barrel roll mechanic. Until now, all my gamedev experience has been in music/audio. If anyone wants to teach me Unreal, I'll trade you for instrument/music composition/audio lessons!

A few photos from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou a few weeks ago. Shot using an Olympus XA with Kodak UltraMax 400 and Lomachrome Metropolis film.

I may have a few of those in a closet somewhere. I used them to make old 4-track recordings ages ago. I’ll let you know if I find any.

So good to be back in the homeland. I missed this city so much!

It was so fun! Really hoping they announce Seattle as an expansion city. The demand for PWHL is definitely there.

Working with Billie Eilish for the next couple nights. Check out the size of this stage! And the entire thing is a giant video screen. Gonna be a fun one!

Just got the dumbest haircut of my life. Might even be worse than the time my mom accidentally buzzed a bald spot in the back of my head and had to cover it up with mascara before sending me off to the first day of fourth grade. I look like Lord Farquaad.

My son shreds on piano, but couldn’t seem more disinterested when I suggest he start a band. Then last month he asked, “How do I get my 808s to sound boomy like Future?” What?! He’s been secretly making beats for his rapper friends at school! And they’re actually really good! Couldn’t be more proud.

And then I’m confused when I struggle to make significant progress on any one of my projects.

000

David J. Nichols @davidthetimequaker.bsky.social · 21/11/2024

Anyone else fill every moment with projects then wonder why they’re always tired? I’m currently writing an indie rock album, a synthwave album, a D&D companion album, a sci-fi novel, learning a new language, and creating a Hong Kong SFX library. And that’s in addition to full time & freelance work.🤯

It’s been a pleasure working with Usher and crew these past few days. Shoutout to Frank and the Usher audio team for being some of the friendliest and most professional people in the biz.
