This week I’ll be mostly nourishing my mind with this cultural fodder. I tend to use music streaming services as a first pass for stuff I might purchase on CD. This recording of the Partitas is exuberant and beautiful!

Also, to the people who say what’s the point of being in an ‘echo chamber’? There are minimum standards of behaviour. I won’t inhabit any space (on- or offline) where poor behaviour exists, I don’t care if there’s a range of views. Racists, political loonies, homophobes, sexists etc. can GTFO.

I’ve tended to avoid stuff like this over the years—contemporary ‘reimagining’ of older music. I was glad I tried this because it’s beautifully executed. The 16th/17th keyboard repertoire on which this is based is familiar to me, and I was scared he’d butcher it somehow. I was wrong: it’s so good.
