Slightly related, I was puzzled as to why bumpers were added to this Shapiro public sculpture in Tokyo, but concluded that it was out of fear that passersby could be injured by it.

I just found a copy of the first Spinal Tap record from 1984. Who can forget that cover?

The Bethlehem PA Steel mill is now a starkly beautiful museum of industrial ruin - it was the victim of the venal corporate idiots who ran the company into the ground, and ultimately set the stage for the rise of demagogues like Donald Trump. Visit the place if you have the opportunity.

As part of my nascent Bluesky vintage audio post series: Single driver studio monitors from Auratone and Audio Research, Inc. (of Flushing, NY). Both are beautifully constructed.

For the one or two people on Bluesky who appreciate vintage audio, this is my recently brought back from purgatory early 1970s Dokorder solid state receiver. It was a monster receiver for its day, and is the only non-Marantz receiver I have seen with a flywheel tuner (though I am no expert).

If only New York and California had acted to void gerrymandering "reforms" years ago, when it was clear that they were -- as I said in 2023 -- a one way street.

Easton PA's Civil War Monument, to the victory of the Union and Emancipation. Memorial Day should remind us that our Nation can't afford to lose that and other hard fought victories, for which many made the ultimate sacrifice.

Photo ops at the El Salvadoran torture prison are very popular among GOP politicians, who are regularly given access. Here is W.Va. Rep Wiley Moore hanging out there. For some reason, though, Sen Van Hollen, who was looking out for Abrego García's welfare, was barred from the torture site.
