A cartoon and homage to the 1980s bubblegum card series Garbage Pail Kids, about the pressure on Andy Burnham, who recently ordered a ban on disposable barbecues while prevaricating over banning licences for the Jackdaw and Rosebank oil fields, in the context of unprecedented forest fires.

Sure, Private Eye did well on the Post Office scandal, but you can hang your heads in shame for your coverage of Jason Arday. Have you lived long enough to see yourself become the villain?

Jason Arday's utterly sad death holds a stark mirror up to the dehumanising political-media-societal culture we are in – one we must all be honest about being complicit in – which forgets there is a human being at the centre of a story, a case study, an issue, a scandal. It is dehumanising.

“We’ve had to rely on each other.” Families bereaved by suicide have told The Ferret why they believe Scotland needs to make support for those left behind a bigger part of suicide prevention

Families are being left without support after a suicide – and it’s causing more deaths
Those bereaved by suicide have a 65 per cent increased risk of taking their own lives. So why is there not more funding for support after tragedy strikes?

It remains striking that Cambridge University – which has rightly found itself subject to immense scrutiny in recent days over its academic appointments process – did not answer any of Byline Times' questions re Cambridge Professor James Orr, Reform's Head of Policy, and his activities there. Why?

While Giving Tuesday may be over, our Pledge Drive continues through December, and the cartoonists we defend go on speaking satirical truths to power every day. You can help at cartoonistsrights.org/donate
“THE ROLE OF AN EDITORIAL CARTOONIST IS TO EXPOSE ABUSE OF POWER AND INJUSTICE. AUTOCRATS HATE THEIR CORRUPTION BEING EXPOSED AND LAUGHED AT.” – Ann Telnaes, Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist

In a cartoon by Ann Telnaes, President Trump wears a kingly robe of purple and ermine, a red MAGA hat/gold crown hybrid adorned with a “T”, and holds a gilded sceptre topped with money bag marked “$”; he is otherwise naked.
