This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

So, contributing to the general miasma then. Not directly responsible, and may even be opposed to the act itself, but we're involved in creating the circumstances that led to it.

So I know Brent, I'm probably his closest remaining friend. I met him prior to the rats, was in Berkeley the same time as him, was in Black Lotus etc. there's things I'd like to add, but recognize a) the subject is highly emotionally charged and b) you've got a lot of ppl talking at you right now

Massachusettes "Millionaires Tax", which was targeted to fund transportation and education, has been a resounding success. It has funded FREE school lunch for ALL students, FREE buses in lowest income communities (people can get to work, etc.), and FREE community college. And "exodus" was minimal.

Can anyone find the original study on this? Highly suspect the article is AI slop. Solar *can* work synergistically with crop yield and quality but the few studies I've read indicate the effect varies a lot and is not a panacea like the article suggests.

That's a very nice figure. Reminds me of the riderless bike simulations. I can only assume this means snakes are also bicycles...
Text copied from CalTech magazine:

"In 2004, while a graduate student at Caltech, Matthew Cook (PhD ’05) created this evocative illustration that shows various paths a bike with no rider might take before it falls over. Developed as part of a study of how artificial intelligence might learn to ride a bike, the visualization has resurfaced and spread on social media numerous times since its publication.

Each line represents one of 800 simulator runs, each of which ends when the riderless two-wheeler topples. The curves that end in straight segments correspond with paths in which the wheels become horizontal as the bike topples over, which leads to large distances between the points where the wheels touch the ground from instant to instant."

Plants are so fickle! I killed one of my cactus cuttings despite trying everything to keep it happy. Meanwhile I neglect my orchid and it flowers every year. 🤷‍♀️ I'll keep waiting on the pothos, and maybe start some more cuttings to pass the time.
