Celebrating what would have been Miles Davis' 100th birthday today. The coolest MF to ever play the horn, a man who reinvented #jazz #music numerous times spanning six decades. Legend. "My future starts when I wake up every morning... Every day I find something creative to do with my life.”
A black and white portrait of Mile Davis with dark glassed, a cigarette and a fur coat, taken during his electric era, circa 1970, courtesy Columbia Records.

Tokyo Metro I, 2025. A shot I made at Kanda Station in #Tokyo last autumn. I made a similar photo in Montreal years ago and wanted to capture commuters thru the movement of the train window here in #Japan as well. Enjoy! #movement #subway #photography
People are seen walking on a Tokyo subway platform thru the window of a moving train car. The colours are deeply saturated and the train is blurred with movement.

Picked up a new to me Odetta LP at the thrift store - It’s a Mighty World. Powerful songs sung magnificently, man she’s so good. Next to the Town Hall album, I’d say essential. Saw her back in 2004, here’s the photo I made at the time. #photography #livemusic #legend
The folk and blues singer Odetta is seen here on stage wearing a pink shawl and red scarf on her head. Glasses, a forehead charm and large necklace complete her look, as she smiles in between songs

Nearby, on 11th and Manitoba is this massive Beech Tree. The trunk resembles a giant elephant foot, one of the largest in the area. I think it has its own plaque - very impressive.

Such as this delightful specimen, a tree my phone ID sometimes calls a Cypress and sometimes a Cedar. Can anyone ID this one? It’s on 14th and Sophia, the apt building now up for redevelopment. @thetyee.ca

It was significant enough for me to keep a clip from the newspaper, when George W Bush said: "I heard somebody say, 'Where is Mandela?Well, Mandela's dead. Because Saddam Hussein killed all the Mandelas." Thought it was the dumbest thing I’d heard a US president say…

Festival poster for #Lollapalooza 1997. First time seeing a show at the incredible Gorge, WA. Korn had to cancel and it was quite a mixed bag lineup but not bad for just $30.00. Times sure have changed with people financing festival tickets (60% at the recent #Coachella). #music #throwback #festival
