I shelved Tiers of Joy over a year ago because I felt like I hit a dead end on the design. Last night, inspiration struck out of nowhere and I think I maybe found a path to fix it? At the very least, this game is fun to work on again. Lil cakes are back on the menu!

Look at what I'm using for placeholder art in Pax Playground. It's color coded dots. There no figures. No action. No story. Guess how many people brought it up at Unpub Festival? None. The story of the game tells itself through the things you do. The things you do are informed by the onboarding.

I just got out of another wonderful playtest of #SpellWeek! There's so much I want to talk about, but for now I'll just reveal this fun little booklet that acts as your storyteller, game timer, onboarding, and upkeep tracker. It's just a ton of fun!

I went through a similar process last year, so I feel your pain! It's a lot more work than dye, but I found I was able to control the color much better with two layers of spray primer, two layers of paint, and a layer of matte varnish.

2025 has been pretty garbage so far. If you're looking for things to enjoy, two excellent experimental pop albums have dropped in the last two weeks. Ela Minus - DÍA FKA Twigs - Eusexua Highly recommended for fans of Björk, Fever Ray, and Kelela.

I usually do my sell sheet renders using Adobe Dimension, but it has some limitations with complex geometry and decals. The Tiers of Joy sell sheet called for new images, so what better opportunity than to jump back into into Blender and learn some new tricks! I'm really happy with these! 🎲✂️
