I am more disgusted by this than anything else they've done, which is saying a lot. Public executions happen in Iran. Not here. This simply must not happen. I hope to God someone has the power to stop it. Whatever it takes. Heaven help us if we let our culture slip to this level.

Just got this email from Medicare. It's a personal message from Trump re the $90 he's sending me, along with a LOT of campaign-style self-promotion. Paid for by the gov. Looks like another huge Hatch Act violation, coupled with a pretty lame bribe. He really does think people are such suckers.

Agreed. Literally the whole point of the speech was the one line: "new evidence of vulnerabilities in our election system." This is the pretext. It's all he things he needs. "The system needs protecting." Sending in troops/ICE, seizing ballots, etc., will all be in the name of that. 100% his plan.

I'm not sure how that is any less easy to change by R's. Also, letting lower courts decide seems like the opposite of what the system is meant to do. And split circuit decisions would be a nightmare. Seems to me an odd # works best. But I really love term limits with alternating 6 yr terms.

They might. But if we combine it with other common sense reforms like term limits and ethics enforcement, it'll be a harder case to make. Also, IMO we should not forget that they basically stole two seats by breaking norms. No reason we shouldn't be allowed to set things right.

Yes, and I think the way to frame it that keeps it from being purely partisan is to say, rather than "we want 13 judges" or any specific number, say "We want one justice for each circuit court." Happens to be 13 right now. But can flex with situation as needed in the future.

Don't we think Iran is doing all this on purpose to punish Trump? It seems so obvious to me. They know the longer it goes, the worse it is for him. They know how to play him. They know he wants out. They can keep it going basically indefinitely, and why wouldn't they? They have him cornered.
