David Jesse @davidjproduct.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I’d love to know also if the code generated leads to better outcomes or not. It’s entirely possible that this is a net negative when humans are less involved in creating the code and are relegated to the role of signing off on something which may or may not be solving the right problems. 030

David Jesse @davidjproduct.bsky.social · 12/09/2026I think the current reason is they are not in form due to the long break. Which only applies to Chelsea and not their opponents of course. 010

David Jesse @davidjproduct.bsky.social · 07/09/2026They can only intervene if they believe it should be 1) a penalty or 2) a straight red. Referee missed it real time. Wasn’t VAR’s mistake. And for the same reason they didn’t/couldn’t intervene on a clear missed yellow on Palmer. Don’t blame the mistakes on it being Arsenal. They just miss stuff. 010

David Jesse @davidjproduct.bsky.social · 10/08/2026I’m sure we would have to lay the groundwork before then, so he wants to come here. Like Zubimendi last summer, where the signing is just a formality. 000

David Jesse @davidjproduct.bsky.social · 24/07/2026Are we truly bad, or is it the profile of players that don't make it at Arsenal/we don't want to keep? It's easier to get a high fee for a 22 year old with huge upside than one who couldn't crack our rotation, whether due to attitude, injuries or potential. Do other top 4 teams have this issue? 130

David Jesse @davidjproduct.bsky.social · 14/07/2026Yes, I love that. It reminds me a running example from @bjfogg.bsky.social. If someone commits to running to the stop sign, they will feel successful in developing their new habit. Often once they have their gear on they will choose to run farther anyway, but that isn't as important as the wiring. 110

David Jesse @davidjproduct.bsky.social · 13/07/2026Within months, our CEO was getting asked how those teams made so much progress so fast. A developer built a merchant ROI calculator in his own time. Not even in the backlog. I heard a spontaneous cheer from the Editorial team when a bug got fixed. One I didn't even know about. 100
David Jesse @davidjproduct.bsky.social · 13/07/2026Teams must do their part to become empowered. During Groupon's hyper-growth phase, we formed teams to support operations drowning in manual processes. Our team wasn't the expert. So we shadowed our internal customers, learned their problems, and defined how we'd measure progress. 110
David Jesse @davidjproduct.bsky.social · 12/07/2026Perhaps they are rigorous, but most posted jobs at any company get flooded with applications — many of them from bots and fake identities. David Jesse @davidjproduct.bsky.social · 08/07/2026I love when designers + dev are involved in these. But yeah, the PM should normally take the lead. I once worked with a team where the PM was on maternity leave and the other leads willingly filled in while she was out. They did really well, but those conditions need to be created across the triad. 000
David Jesse @davidjproduct.bsky.social · 08/07/2026Yes, too often they see their role as visionaries who create thrash with new big ideas but no execution (that SVP) or administrators who oversee delivery. They do part of the job. Obviously the best ones maximize performance & impact from PMs and the entire team. Same with eng/design executives. 010
David Jesse @davidjproduct.bsky.social · 08/07/2026True regarding the dev manager. 😂 As to your other changes, it shows that this fluid. Old PM:dev ratios need updating. but that happens slowly. Hiring takes time. Roles evolve. They give everyone a Claude Code license and then (wrongly) ask why the PM is slowing things down -- and also not coding! 100
David Jesse @davidjproduct.bsky.social · 08/07/2026100%. Often work falls on the PM if there is a weak dev manager. The PM becomes a bottleneck, especially if devs are coding faster via AI. Yet another example of why PMs don't need to code. And a reminder that work should be balanced across the triad. BTW they all need analytics/research to happen. 100
