I signed the Municipal Leadership Pledge. I support protecting farmland, clean water, natural heritage, and responsible growth, while keeping decisions focused on the public interest. Strong communities need good planning and long-term thinking. VoteCottrell.ca

Thank you to The Claremont for hosting me for a meet and greet with residents. I really enjoyed the conversations, the questions, and the chance to hear directly from people in the community. I appreciate everyone who took the time to come out and chat. VoteCottrell.ca

Pretty boring? St. Paul’s doesn’t have to be. I support more local activities, events, recreation, arts, and community programming for people of all ages. More reasons to get out, meet people, and enjoy the neighbourhood we live in. VoteCottrell.ca

I recently responded to Ontarians Against Corruption on five issues: AI data centres, Indigenous relations, land use, policing, and public funds. Clear positions. Practical answers. No hiding behind political language. votecottrell.ca

12 years ago, Toronto looked different. But many of the conversations still sound familiar. Affordability. Transit. Safety. Infrastructure. Representation. We can’t change the last 12 years. This election, we can decide what we expect from the next four.

Like to walk? Help us reach St. Paul’s. We need volunteers to deliver campaign pamphlets across Ward 12. No door knocking. No experience needed. Routes provided. Flexible hours. Walk at your own pace. Every street helps. Volunteer: votecottrell.ca

Quick campaign update: people across St. Paul’s have been unbelievably pleasant. I’ve really enjoyed the conversations, the questions, the stories, and getting to know more of the community. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to chat. votecottrell.ca

This one was hard to film. I visited a building where residents are facing displacement as redevelopment moves forward. Some have lived there for years. Growth matters, but so do the people already here. Development should come with housing security and infrastructure. votecottrell.ca

Campaign training, apparently: Campaign manager: “Again.” Canvasser lead: “Are you ready?” Me: “Yeah.” Somewhere between Uma Thurman punching wood and John Wick punching concrete is probably an accurate description of canvassing season. votecottrell.ca

Gas-powered leaf blowers are noisy, polluting, and worth taking seriously. My approach: better 311 reporting, public consultation, quieter technology, a gradual phase-out where practical, and no sudden costs dumped on residents or small businesses. votecottrell.ca

I had a great time at Voices in the Hall 2026. It was a fun evening and a good opportunity to meet people who care about civic engagement and the future of Toronto. Thanks to everyone who helped put it together. I’m glad I had the chance to attend.

I responded to the Clean Indoor Air Toronto candidate survey. My approach: update Toronto’s indoor air policy, improve ventilation and filtration standards, publish clearer data, support vulnerable residents, and protect renters from added retrofit costs. votecottrell.ca

I signed the Greener City Champion Pledge. I’m supporting renter heat protections, more trees in hotter neighbourhoods, less single-use waste, stronger building efficiency, and a pause on new large AI data centres until Toronto has clear rules. votecottrell.ca

Cars and bikes should not be forced to fight for the same space. Good city planning means designing routes that keep cyclists safer and traffic moving more smoothly. Separate infrastructure can reduce conflict for everyone. votecottrell.ca

You shouldn’t have to chase your councillor. My representation promise for St. Paul’s: • Response within 2 business days • Regular neighbourhood checkups • Every concern tracked and followed up That’s the standard I want to bring to Ward 12.

8:50 PM. Our canvassing cutoff is 9:00, but we had one building left and wanted to finish what we started. We made it with 10 minutes to spare. Long days, lots of doors, and still more St. Paul’s to hear from. votecottrell.ca

Apparently Uncle Buck accidentally wrote my campaign Q&A. Do you rent? Why don’t you have an office? Do you have a wife? Honestly, some of the questions were a little too accurate. Thanks to everyone and every organization sending questions. I’ve genuinely enjoyed answering them. votecottrell.ca

800 new units. Zero new infrastructure. Funny as a meme. Less funny when neighbourhoods are left dealing with the consequences. Toronto needs housing, but growth should come with transit, roads, services and public spaces planned alongside it. votecottrell.ca

You should never have to plan your walk home around feeling safe. A safer Toronto is not an unreasonable expectation. It is one of the most basic responsibilities of a city. Leadership means listening, and making our streets and public spaces places people can trust again. votecottrell.ca

Toronto sometimes feels less like a city under construction and more like a city permanently looking for the exit. Repairs and upgrades matter. But so do coordination, speed, and accountability. Getting around should not feel like a maze. A city that gets things done. votecottrell.ca

At this rate, buying eggs is going to come with a dress code. Toronto is getting more expensive, and even the basics are starting to feel premium-priced. Ordinary groceries. Luxury prices. We need a more affordable city. votecottrell.ca

Too often, city problems get passed from office to office without real follow-up. That is not representation. A councillor should not just forward the problem. They should own it, stay on it, and work to get answers. Real representation. Real results. votecottrell.ca

Building more housing matters. But if ordinary people still cannot afford the housing being built, supply alone is not enough. Toronto needs to focus on affordability, not just unit counts. It is not only about quantity. It is about cost. votecottrell.ca

Nobody in St. Paul’s should feel threatened because of their faith, background or identity. We can disagree. We can protest. We can have difficult political conversations. But threats, intimidation, vandalism and violence cross the line. Antisemitism and hate have no place in St. Paul’s.
