Every couple of years I reread “The Smartest Guys In The Room” because it’s an amazing book but now I shake my head at how familiar some parts of the AI bubble are. Small wonder @edzitron.com references this very phenomenon when talking about the tech/business press being a captured industry.

Happy Father’s Day to my dad who as a 16 yo who got his gf pregnant and then had to take a train to BC to plant trees over the summer to make enough money to get a place for them to live. They have been married for 50+ years and have 4 more sons he did pretty damn good imo.

Renewing the licenses for our cats and the whole process took 20 minutes online but to be fair 18 minutes of it was spent choosing the best recent photos to upload. I pray a human being reviews these documents because Charles and Claire are just devastating.

I am dabbling with RDR2 again and had forgotten how slow and obtuse so many design and UI choices are. Last night I played poker long enough to defeat everyone at the table. It took at least an hour of real time and about 3 days passed in game. Just crazy making slow and unskippable animations.

President Donald Trump claimed twice today that he had recently spoken to a former US president who praised his actions in Iran, saying: "I wish I did what you did."
Trump declined to identify which of his four living predecessors it could have been — or offer any evidence about whether such a conversation actually took place.
"Was it George W. Bush?" a reporter asked the president in the Oval Office.
"No," he replied. "Was it Bill Clinton?" a reporter asked. "I don't want to say," Trump said.
Four former presidents are living: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Joe Biden. A spokesman for Clinton told CNN that no recent conversations have taken place between Clinton and Trump — about Iran or anything else. Aides to Bush, Obama and Biden offered similar sentiments on Monday, saying there is no record of any communications with Trump.
