Our plan to improve healthcare got a paw of approval today.

The Conservative leader went behind your back and promised personal injury lawyers he'd bring back the old car insurance system, and undo all the work we did to get rates under control. It's not just reckless. He's selling out every driver in British Columbia.

In tough times, British Columbians look after each other. That's why we're asking people who have a little bit more to give a little bit more, so seniors and families get the care they need, when they need it. That's how we build B.C. strong, together.

5. Fair wages for care workers: Bring 5,000 care home workers back into the public health system, for steady staffing, fair pay and familiar faces caring for your loved ones.

4. More long-term care beds, built faster: Seven new long-term care homes moving ahead in Abbotsford, Campbell River, Chilliwack, Kelowna, Delta, Fort St. John and Squamish, using a new design that builds beds faster and for less.

3. Better care in long-term care homes: More nurse practitioners, pharmacy services and virtual specialists inside care homes, so residents can be treated where they live instead of making a trip to hospital.

2. Free shingles vaccine: Both doses free for everyone 50 and older, and for adults with weakened immune systems. Today the two shots can cost up to $400.

Here’s our plan: 1. More help at home: 500 more home care workers, no more fees for essential home care, and more at-home monitoring. That helps about 5,600 more seniors stay safely in their own homes longer.

The people who built our province deserve dignity and peace of mind as they age. That means being able to stay in the home you love, with help when you need it, and knowing there's a place for you when you need more care.

The current conservative leader had the chance to remove extremist candidates from his team, and he didn't. He's welcoming people with hateful views in his party and he intends to put them in positions of power. That's not just wrong, it's a profound mistake.

The big grocery chains are charging too much for the essentials. I won't back down from fighting for lower grocery costs and lower gas prices for you and your family, every single day.

David Eby @davidebybc.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Every trip to the grocery store costs more, while the billionaire families behind Loblaws and Save-On grew their wealth by $4.4 billion last year. The conservative parties won't stand up to the grocery giants. I will.

A resolution has been reached to restart the Howe Sound Pulp Mill. This has been an unbearably stressful few weeks for the 400 workers and their families. We will always stand up for jobs. We will always stand up for BC.

British Columbians can't afford to subsidize big oil like that. My plan gives the BC Utilities Commission the power to put a stop to it.

Since the war in Iran started, refiners have added 20 cents a litre to what British Columbians pay at the pump. No apparent reason why, other than to fatten profits that just doubled.

My plan cuts 10 cents a litre off the provincial gas tax and gives the BC Utilities Commission the power to stop big oil from gouging you at the pump, so up to 30 cents a litre ends up back in your pocket where it belongs. That's up to $100 a month for a family with two cars.

So here's my plan. We'll suspend 10 cents a litre of the provincial gas tax, and bring in a price guard so the BC Utilities Commission can cap what oil companies charge. That's savings of up to $20 every time you fill up, and up to $100 every month for a two-car family.

When Trump started his war with Iran, big oil companies used it as cover. They padded their margins by 20 cents a litre at B.C. pumps, took an estimated $865 million out of British Columbians' pockets, and doubled their profits to $13.3 billion in a single quarter.

Today, alongside the Prime Minister, we secured the largest private sector investment in Canadian history, right here in B.C. This historic achievement means thousands of good jobs and billions for the hospitals and schools you rely on. Let's keep building B.C. strong.

The grain moving through the Port of Prince Rupert in a single year could give every person on Earth a loaf of bread. British Columbia helps feed the world and power it – and we don't need anyone's permission. Let's keep building BC strong.

The cost of living is already too high for families. The trade war is only making things harder. Starting Monday, I’ll be rolling out our plan to create good jobs and protect you from rising costs – at the grocery checkout and at the pumps. Stay tuned.

That's why today I pledged a higher speculation and vacancy tax and a new Unsold Condo Tax, so developers sell the finished homes they're sitting on and the revenue goes into building more affordable ones. Let's get people into homes they can afford, and build B.C. strong.

Our plan is bringing prices down, and we're going further. A higher speculation and vacancy tax, and a new Unsold Condo Tax that climbs every year a finished home sits empty. Up to 5,000 homes for British Columbians who need them. That's how we build B.C. strong

I want to speak with you directly about why I’ve called an election for October 24th. Trump is attacking our jobs, raising our costs and threatening our sovereignty. The conservatives want to back down. Not me. Join me in standing up for Canada and building B.C. strong.

The conservative parties would cozy up to Trump, make cuts, raise costs and invite U.S. corporations into our health care. With Trump at our door, we cannot afford their chaos. That's the choice in front of us.

David Eby @davidebybc.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
I'm working with the Prime Minister to hold the line, and we've got a plan to stand up to Trump, protect workers and businesses, and build a stronger B.C. that's less dependent on the U.S. It's making a difference. But the job is far from done.

For B.C. and for Canada, this is an existential moment. We have to decide as a province how we respond, and British Columbians deserve a say. That's why today I called an election for October 24.

Today, Jewish communities in British Columbia and around the world are observing Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year. Beginning at sunset last night, many have entered a period of fasting, prayer and reflection as they mark the end of the Days of Awe that began with Rosh Hashanah. (1/3)

Trump’s trade war means businesses are dealing with new pressures, and many are making tough decisions. That’s why we will delay the planned expansion of the PST to a number of professional services, which other provinces include, but that many small businesses rely on.
