Personally related to this. I was not the first in family to go to university. I got my degrees at a polytechnic! It is a shame to observe things have got worse since the end of the last century. So much potential being unfulfilled within swaths of our population #beyondaccess #SEIinChemistry

That’s Elon Musk, Fellow of the Royal Society, I’ll have you know. Because the Royal Society can only seem to come up with throat-clearing noises as a response to these sorts of statements instead of actually throwing him out.

#IOM3Policy | We’ve joined the Institution of Chemical Engineers (#IChemE) and the Royal Society of Chemistry @rsc.org to publish a joint report that identifies critical jobs and skills gaps stalling the UK’s ability to deliver a successful circular economy. Read the report 👉 iom3.info/3WhAhpd
First page of the report titled 'Jobs and skills for a circular economy: a cross-sector perspective from the chemical and materials science and engineering communities' on an IOM3-branded colourful background. Also includes logos of IOM3, Institution of Chemical Engineers, and Royal Society of Chemistry.

First base issue. If UK government wants to spend its £86m investment in science effectively, UK will need the next generation of chemists. Less UK chemistry degrees will mean less available talent and impact success
