My final cappacuino of the year as I await the train departure down to the New Forest.
A red coffee cup with a white lid on a pull-down tray onboard a train. The words Costa Coffee are printed vertically on the cup.

St Alban church at North Harrow. Described in Betjeman’s book (see Alt text for book details) as ‘the best Middlesex church of the 1930s, by AW Kenyon, in yellow brick’. #ParishChurches #JohnBetjeman #London #Harrow #StAlban

I’ve started trying out solo role playing games. Vampire Hunter by Zozer Games is one such card-based game and is set in Bavaria in the 1880s. Still getting used to it and it is enjoyable. #RolePlayingGame #ZozerGames #VampireHunter
The front cover of Vampire Hunter solo role playing game. A man dressed in nineteenth century dress and holding a holy cross at arms length. In the left-hand background is the silhouette of a castle tower. In the top-right corner are three flying bats also in silhouette. The background is in red. The bottom text reads like it is a film playing in a cinema theatre.

What I like to buy to remind myself of a visit or holiday: fridge magnet, bookmark, coaster, and tea towel. And I adore clotted cream fudge! The bookmark is from the D-Day Story museum with Southsea and Portsmouth also represented. #DDayStory #Southsea #Portsmouth #AlisonGardiner
Five items lying on a beige carpet. There is a fridge magnet and tea towel featuring Southsea, a fridge magnet and clotted cream fudge representing Portsmouth, and a bookmark from the D-Day Story museum.

My first glass of the evening in Bosham and I’m going to enjoy it! My first night of self-catering for several years. #Bosham #MillstreamHotel #SelfCatering #WestSussex
A hand holding a thin glass filled with white wine. The background is white though it looks like white with a slight tint due to the image processing by the phone

Four views of Alex Chinneck’s sculpture ‘A week at the knees’. The sculpture represents a four storey building though it is not four storeys in height. It used 4.6 tons of reused steel and 7000 bricks in its construction. Also includes bespoke bending windows, cornicing, pipework, and door.
An interpretation board standing on a gravel path. It explains the concept of the sculpture. The curvy sculpture is seen in the background. A sideways view of the sculpture. It nearly looks like the letter S. The path passes underneath it. The thickness is of one and a quarter bricks laid lengthways.A frontal view of the sculpture. The front part is leaning backwards while the rear section is standing upright. Others buildings of Charterhouse Square are in the background. The left-hand green door is surrounded by a white arch and edging with lamps on either side of the door. The door features a door knocker, bell, round door handle, letterbox, and a keyhole. On the right is a window which has twelve panes. Pipework is between the window and the edge of the sculpture. On the rear upright wall are two windows each with twelve panes with the pipework to the right of the windows. The green door as seen from the interior view. It is set within the brickwork. It is clearly at a sloping angle. Design features are the door chain in use, letterbox, and a round door handle. Only part of the keyhole is visible.

Some of my favourite design products at the 2025 Clerkenwell Design Week. Table lamps by Case and OEO Studio, garden furniture by Ethimo; and a cabin, by Kabin. #CDW2025 #Design #CDWFestival
A set of two round table lamps sitting on a dark coloured rectangular table. The lights are on and are throwing out white light. A single person cabin that shows the seating area as green, the walls are white, and a brown small worktop that can be swung to the side. A door is just visible to the left. Two garden seats and a canopy in the courtyard in a deep red colour standing on flagstones. Two tables are nearby. There are large green plants on the left hand side and some greenery behind the and the right. Two small lamps standing on plinths with two more lamps hanging from the ceiling. The background walls are white. The hanging lamps are turned on and the lamp shades force the light downwards.

My first Clerkenwell Design Week for a few years. For someone who doesn’t any design skills I am in awe of those who have those skills, knowledge, and experience.

Read this short publication by John Rogers where he follows an old path from Walthamstow to Shoreditch that connects some old markets. I enjoyed reading about the walk and I really should do the route one day.
A front cover of a booklet in black. The text reads John Rogers. The Black Path. London Adventures. The booklet has been photographed on a light oak table top.
