I’ve a few of signed books by Dawkins. He was a significant motivation in me trying to follow an evidence based life. It’s thus so disappointing to see him embrace the irrationality of transphobia, which is so contradictory to Humanism.

I’m not saying cyclists should just ignore red lights. But when you’ve nearly been squashed by an HGV, because you’re stuck in the middle of a road waiting for a gap that doesn’t come only then be stuck at a red light, it gives you a different perspective!

The problem cyclists mostly get killed at junctions & all to often junction design has the effect of putting the most vulnerable road uses in direct conflict with some of the biggest vehicles on the road.

When cycling to work there was 1 set of lights I’d always go through on red. It was a right turn, no filter, on a main road. So you had a choice of waiting in the middle of the for a gap in traffic with 44ton HGVs close passing you, or getting out of dodge by going through when the green man was on.

What is always most troubling about these cases (see also: Noah Carl) is not that they are sacked, it is that they were recruited in the first place. If you were a student shelling out £9k a year, you would expect to be taught by people who at least understood the subjects they pontificate about.

As a nurse I can't get a free pen. It was recognised that even a pen with drug names can affect prescribing. Thus, unlike 20 years ago when I qualified, you basically don't see them. Yet we are meant to believe that hundreds of thousands of pounds of donations to politicians don't affect policy!

The reform the #NHS needs is tax reform to prevent the legal tax avoidance millionaires & billionaires benefit from Oh & reverse the redistribution of wealth from the poorest to the wealthiest. So much illness is caused by socioeconomic factors & the NHS can’t prescribe better housing or wages etc
