Monochrome Ring-Necked Duck for a gloomy Aberdeen afternoon. You're a long way from Kansas, Dorothy 😊 #birds #birdingscotland #ukbirds #naturephotography #ukbirding #ornithology #birdphotography #birding

Hi Anna. Sorry to hear about your brother. Don't think I met him but Jeanette remembers him well. Condolences from both of us x

Ditto here in Aboyne, although without the power cut thank god. Stay frosty ❄️

A few oldies to finish off the year. Golden Plover, Pallas's Warbler, Red-Flanked Bluetail and Icterine Warbler. Here's to some good birding in 2026. #birds #birdingscotland #ukbirds #naturephotography #ukbirding #ornithology #birdphotography #birding

Underfunding of council engineering services + climate change = shitshow. If they can't fix Aboyne bridge then I wouldn't hold your breath for repairs to that viaduct. I blame Thatcher 😄

The Wilkocaster is now complete and sounding particularly spanky. Some tweaks to the set up required but other than that, on to the next project. #luthier #woodworking #guitarmaking

You can simulate having a dog by shouting "Rex, down, drop it" over and over, picking up random poops, and flinging twenty pound notes into the bushes 😁

That rosette looks amazing. Something I need to practice for the next project.

And that's a wrap. OM001 is finished (for now). Not perfect but sounding and feeling great. A really good learning experience with lots of lessons to take into the next project (a 12 fret 0-28) #woodworking #luthier #guitarbuild

Danish oil finishing completed on the oak back, sapele sides and okoume neck. Jury still out on the soundboard. Might sand back and do nitrocellulose. #woodworking #luthier #guitarbuild

Good luck with the fretboard. I was just lucky as I bought a cheap tonewood set off Ebay. I like how the headstock has a rickenbacker swipe though. The danish oil on the soundboard is a bit patchy. I probably put too much on initially. I'm hoping it lightens as it cures.

I'm using danish oil, which is great on the back, sides and neck but I'm starting to regret putting on the soundboard. Early days though.

Thanks Larry. I've strung it up and it sounds really good. Just in the long drawn out process of finishing now.

Acoustic back and top now fitted. Router trim to come next. The oak back was a dusty shelf just a few weeks ago. Brushed up nicely 😀 #woodworking #luthier

Thanks Ray. Those books look great, although a bit expensive for now. I'm following Jonathan Kinkead's Build Your Own Acoustic but will definitely look into Ervin's books once I understand the process better.
