A small detail I loved in One Battle After Another was the baby backpack tethered to Bob’s go bag. Not only does it demonstrate Bob’s love for Willa, it also conveys how little he’s thought about being on the run in the sixteen years since the inciting incident that caused him to be on the run.

Me looking at my 401k after the last two days:

The photo is from Kill Bill, Part 1. In it The Bride surveys the aftermath of her bloody battle with the Crazy 88s.

The skeeter acknowledges that as an analogy, the image doesn’t hold up, since The Bride was the author of the carnage and the skeeter is more of a bystander in a stupid trade war.

That said, the image otherwise captures the essence of the skeeter’s retirement account
