I have a Henckels 8" Chefs knife that I've had for ~15 years. Its heavy, but I like that about it. Stills hold an edge, but I take it to a guy in my neighborhood that is a knifesmith to get it honed/sharpened every 3 months or so.

I was keeping a spread sheet of jobs I've applied to, job title, company, and where I found the job. And then adding in the date of the "going another direction" rejection email. But I stopped after getting depressed that I'd sent out over 300 applications/resumes since I got laid off.
