forcing himself to have sex with someone was not needed because in the end he didn't do it to regain bodily autonomy but to manipulate him like he does with Tav and it felt very "All I had to do was not fall for you" which is.....not great. The paladin was cutting floor material.

All in all, first half great, second half dumpster fire. I'd have preferred more magistrate scenes or his life pre Baldur's Gate and in Baldur's Gate and have had the heist in the end with Yousen. Maybe even Yousen double crossing him as Astarion feared. I don't think Astarion

Another controversial part: Astarion was someone who partied A LOT as mortal. Let me tell you that is not completely a problem. I thought it was okay when he was a teen because hormones and all that. What left me groaning and moaning in my seat was the line that at 27 he knew 27 tricks in bed.

Because it turns out Grandma Ancunín had a mountain of debt! And in the end made him the heir. It showed us that Astarion had a huge scare to lose his comfort he gained and it gave him a small crack in the love for justice as well. Unfortunately we never get a flashback IN BG.

The flashbacks were nice little breaks even if the parents and grandmother got too little "screen" time. His mother was obviously mentally not suited to raise a child and was very scared that his grandma would find him because of a reason revealed much later.
