This came up at a pre-semester faculty meeting for us. Several people laughing pointed out that many of our faculty don’t meet that threshold! We’re a regional R2 in a low cost-of-living metro area. I started at $50k in 2018.

I keep thinking about Löwen’s situation these last couple of years. If Hartel is in any kind of analogous situation, the club should/would have let him go to Germany to take care of his family, in which case he wouldn’t have played at all, and they would have kept paying him.
