i've always used printf style formatting in rust wrt to arguments i.e: format!("foo {}", bar). but recently i've been using the other syntax i.e.: format!("foo {bar}") and... I kinda like it. i don't recognize myself anymore.

my method for improving illumos performance is unbeaten - i ping @papertigers.net directly and say "this is slow lol". he sent me a custom compiled lib9p.so.1 and i LOFS mounted it into a zone and suddenly i'm going from 28Mb/s to 500Mb/s+ writing to a 9pfs mount. insanity.

i love nagios for my home network so much. it’s not exactly critical - it noticed i was currently in the process of swapping out spinning disks for nvme drives! thanks to ZFS i can resilver the pool while its online and serving traffic. ZFS is the best filesystem ever i swear.
