PabloReports: What do you make of Stephen Miller and Tom Homan asking for all this money but then refusing to show up to the hearing today? Frost: That’s what happens when you have a lapdog as speaker.

Want a laugh? Check out the sockpuppet army's campaign on Rotten Tomatoes in support of Melania's docu-junk. The good news? We've finally found some vote fraud!

Corrupt organization gives corrupt politician phony prize. FIFA's view on world peace is as useless as my view on fluid mechanics.

When I taught newswriting, I started with these words: "Writing is thinking." The writer of this headline cannot think and the result is "partial collapse." No such animal. Annoys the bejeebus out of me that an outlet such as CNN lets this go. Small thing, but credibility is built on small things.

There is no Trump without Dick Cheney. Cheney's vision of a supreme presidency and willingness to lie to achieve his darkest aims made Trump inevitable. That Dr. Frankenstein eventually denounced the monster he created does not rehabilitate his image.

Most major media outlets are owned by conservatives, happy to bend the knee if it makes more money, regardless of the damage to society. It will only get worse from here. It is time to build a new media ecosystem, free from gov't threat, self-funded, many voices. NYT, MSNBC isn't coming to save us.

Why in the wide, wide world of sports can't the Washington Post tell the plain truth? SSA's letter claiming taxes on Social Security were eliminated in Trump's Big Bad Boondoggle IS A LIE? Don't need experts to read the damn bill and point out that that's simply not true. 1/2

Thoughts of a nobody from nowhere on the Iran bombing. First, it is negligent of the press not to point out above the fold and as the lede on any story that this bombing is an unconstitutional act of war unauthorized by Congress as required. 1/until I run out of gas for my gasbag...

We are in a very dangerous place, at an intersection where one path leads to dark places we all thought could never be America.
Quote from article: "The through-line here is crystal clear.

Ratchet up raids on peaceful people to hit impossible quotas (ICE came close, but did not meet, Miller’s 3,000 arrest quota on two days last week).

Use protests against that draconian invasion to arrest Democratic leaders and invade a blue city.

Point to the chaos created by Miller’s draconian ICE raids to demand passage of the Big Ugly bill, which will codify and expand precisely that kind of draconian ICE raid.

Create chaos, and then use that chaos to try to codify authoritarian power."

A short rant about a journalism pet peeve of mine. Today, @washingtonpost.com reported on an e coli outbreak that Trump's FDA didn't publicly disclose. FDA explained, somewhat reasonably, that because none of the affected lettuce remained on the market, there was no need to alert the public. 1/x

I like @washingtonpost.com's new bottom scrolling ticker. Keeps me up to date with all the news of 2022.
Washington Post website ticker on May 13, 2025 shows headline from its own website that says the 2022 Winter Olympics are coming and here's what to expect.

If you're a white guy like me, this hits especially hard. Our Congresswoman, Claudia Tenney, could stand up for her constituent but chooses instead to glorify the reason this woman keeps getting asked for her green card. Indefensible.

If you were deliberately trying to lose the House and Senate by historic margins, you couldn't do a better job than these clowns are doing. (And it's nice of the Republicans in the House and Senate to play along with their own destruction for a generation.)

Here's what I want Dem leaders to promise: That when they retake the House in 2 years, nothing moves from Trump without major concessions that restore services and improve protections for average people. And that tax cuts are rolled back on the rich.

A very interesting vision of the Middle East in Trump's new video. This is from the 15 second mark. Good to see the Musk team bringing the same kind of quality control that they've brought to the rest of government.

The sheer incompetence of the Musk "Admin" is baffling. During the 1st term, they had no idea what they were doing and f'd up left & right. This time, legions of smart but damaged think-tankers planned meticulously for years, put the plans in print. This is the result? KKKeystone Kops quality work.

God almighty -- why oh why can't the Washington Post say it plainly: 1,600 people wait to be freed by the man who urged them to commit crimes for him? Passive voice, weird point of view. No wonder so many top talents are jumping ship.

Trump's chaos is a plan, so they say: "...defined by antagonism toward U.S. allies and adversaries alike, centered around dreams of territorial expansionism, and channeled through...braggadocio." So world leaders should respond as follows: "Ignore him. He's full of crap." wapo.st/49YL3Xt

Trump team says Canada, Greenland, Panama comments are part of a broader plan
But not everyone is sure that President-elect Donald Trump’s talk of annexing Canada and Greenland and reclaiming the Panama Canal is driven by a deeper strategy.

Some lefty folks -- not many, thank goodness -- are upset over Joe's pardon of Hunter. First, read the pardon and tell me you disagree that this was a political prosecution and that Trump will leave Hunter alone without a full pardon. You can't. There's no norm to break here. Just a wrong to right.

Honest to god, this is infuriating. WaPo tries to detail the deep dysfunction of Trump II but characterizes it as "freewheeling," says Trump likes it that way. And nominees with sex charges are mentioned nowhere near the top of the piece. WaPo normalizes this, makes it look like reality show stuff.

Donald Trump’s transition team has begun what a close ally calls a hostile takeover of the federal government, ignoring the rules for the handover of power in the process.

Once again, the mighty Washington Post does the Republican Party's job for them by presenting Medicaid and SNAP cuts as "overhauling" and "changes" when the story makes clear the idea is to reduce the number of people who use these benefits in order to give Elon Musk more of your money.
