Pre-ordered @donwinslow.bsky.social new one on audible and got it yesterday morning. The Final Score was fantastic, every story different and better than the previous one, if possible. Finished it in one day! Congrats Don!

Joe passed away 23 years ago today-way too early. We still need him.

FINISHED:Dark Hollow by @jconnollybooks.bsky.social Second in the Charlie Parker series, it continues the dark spiraling plot of the first. 5 Stars! STARTED:The Elephant Of Surprise by @joerlansdale.bsky.social I'm 40% in, and Hap & Leonard have themselves another fine mess. April starting great!

One of Tom Piccirilli's short noiry tales with maybe a touch of violence-You'd Better Watch Out. It's a reread for me and it's still 5 stars.

I liked some of the Lew Archer novels by Ross Macdonald, but there were some that were total misses for me. I really liked the s.s. collection i read recently, The Name Is Archer. The stories were all very compelling.

@erykpruitt.bsky.social Blood Red Summer was so good man. Great use of past/present storylines, to slowly pace out the truths of the story. I'll be thinking about this one for a while!

@meggardiner.bsky.social The UNSUB series is excellent. I just finished Shadowheart and found it was of the same caliber as the first three-fast-paced, unique and thought-provoking!

My top reads of 2024? There were so many good ones. I read over 190 books(including a LOT of audio). A few new authors and a bunch of old favourites. Here's 15 that I rated 5 stars on Goodreads, in no particular order...

@beaujohnson44.bsky.social Read a huge chunk(68%) of A Better Kind Of Hate straight through in almost one sitting today! It's great stuff, although I am a bit winded now. And sweaty.

A Mourning Song. "The sound his knee made when it imploded reminded me of a tree branch snapping, and the holler he let out made my turd hole pucker." Poetry @itsmarkyall.bsky.social
