And I feel kinda uncomfortable saying any of this because I genuinely try to avoid stick my head above the parapet these days. That’s what I’ve learned about the internet.

This is a person who took on the role in an effort to do the best job they could. That person now has to start over and … yeah, some people think that’s justice served. It’s disgusting to be honest. It’s never occurred to them that maybe they could have just said nothing about it.

There was a fb group in my feed (again, inescapable because Facebook will just throw stuff at you now whether you like it or not) that delivered the news that a community manager had been made redundant at WotC. Every single comment was laughing and celebrating at the dismissal: this is a person

We aren’t leaving, ultimately because there aren’t many places left to go in terms of social media. The problem is geek culture’s propensity to dislike something and sprint to the internet to do a hot take. Nothing new, I know, but that’s part of them problem. It doesn’t change.

And I’m not sure it’s the fault of BSky but rather we are still carrying all this toxic luggage around wherever we go. I strongly suspect that in five years this site with be no better than Twitter was at its end. Just as reviled and people will be searching for the next safe haven.

Just before heading to bed last night we received a pm via our nightfall games fb page. The message read ‘your video sucks’. That was it. Now, admittedly we’ve not received anything so pitiful on Blue Sky but negativity has been entirely absent here either.

You know, there was the hope that BSky would be different. But I have found the same bleak, toxic, mean spirited commentary that I endured on Twitter. I think i should just get off the internet more.

I created a videogame concept back in 2003 - The Horrors, taking place in a London housing estate with the player determined to wipe out the creatures plaguing the urban landscape (there were no monsters, just her trauma playing out). Anyway, Capcom were interested but the lead wasn't sexy enough.
