Plenty of Bee-flies recently in East Sussex. Yesterday, (not great photos, but you can see the wing spots), I saw my first Dotted bee-fly at Lullington Heath. Today, a better photo of a Dark-edged bee-fly. These were in abundance in Abbots Wood. @southdownsnp.bsky.social @flygirlnhm.bsky.social

Common green shieldbug, (Palomena prasina) on a leaf in the garden the other day. This is in its brown colour form, having overwintered. It will soon regain its green colour.

A female Eristalis tenax hoverfly on a sunny wall of the Parish church of St. George in Crowhurst, East Sussex today. Females of this species overwinter in crevices in walls, but can emerge if temperatures are high enough.
