Pied Kingfisher, Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe. Lake Kariba is the world's largest artificial lake by volume. It was filled between 1958 and 1963 by damming the Kariba Gorge on the Zambezi River. Lake Kariba is over 223 kilometres long and up to 40 kilometres wide, and is bordered by Zimbabwe and Zambia.
