@ricksteves.bsky.social never does us wrong. Walked a few blocks from the port in Kavala and found a place serving mackerel that was swimming yesterday.

A friend on the Camino in Spain sent me this pic. Made me think of what @ricksteves.bsky.social says, "Life's to short to eat the cheap ham while in Spain." Or something to that effect.... #CaminodeSantiago

Our VBS is collectively big diapers & wipes for Wellroot Family Services (N Georgia UMC “children’s home”). Look at that pile… and there’s one more day (just ignore the “do not add” sign) #BeUMC

A smiling person wearing glasses and a blue shirt stands indoors in front of a large pyramid-shaped stack of donated diaper boxes, arranged like a Christmas tree. The room has large windows, a tiled floor, and a visible green lawn outside. Ceiling lights and EXIT signs hang above.

Delphi. Quite a treacherous place to get to, even today. For centuries folks came here seeking knowledge and truth. Now we won’t do anything beyond watching a short form video or share the latest hot-take.

What about the folks in the little pink houses? Seriously, I know there’s more urgent things. But this is plain stupid.

Another of my favorites of the season here at the parish I serve: date night quality food, drinks (non-alcoholic, of course), & music of the season. Here’s the ask: church folk buy 4 tix, 2 for you and two to share with neighbors who aren’t church folk. #BeUMC #PeachtreeCorners #ChristmasMusic

Oh such a beautiful irony ¶2553 in the new Book of Discipline is the readmission of disaffiliated churches provision. God has a wonder sense of humor #BeUMC

My favorite part for today: this is the Kindergarten readiness class. We have some retired teachers that do lunch w/ them to teach skills. They all showed up today to support their lunch companions!2/2 #BeUMC

Oberammergau has its passion play. Assisi has the OG nativity but #PeachtreeCorners has #WalkThroughBethlehem. Almost 2,000 folks so far and tomorrow night still to come #Christmas #xmas #Atl #BeUMC

My church, like many, does a “Walk Through Bethlehem”… kind of a live nativity on steroids and interactive. Ours is next weekend but construction was today. I love how every year there’s a different way to try to square the circle #BeUMC #Advent #Christmas #PTC #PeachtreeCorners

@ricksteves.bsky.social I was like 5 or 6 & my aunt went to UK for a study abroad… something unfathomable in rural Alabama in the 70’s. This keychain was my souvenir from her to me. Over 40 yrs later, this is one of my treasures bc it represents the beginning of travel capturing my imagination.

One thing I’ll say about my kid… she’s rarely afraid to head off on her own. You go, girl.

Look out world, my kid is 16 today. Whatever lay ahead for her, she’ll be fierce, independent, loyal, creative, & one who stands up for justice. So proud of her.

It’s taken almost 15 years but I finally did it. There’s 3 major pilgrimage sites in Christianity—Jerusalem, Rome, & Santiago de Compostela. I’ve been graced with the time, opportunity and resources to visit all three. So grateful for the opportunity & experience.

Something I do love about the place I serve, this is like the 3rd time we’ve filled this trees with paper “ornaments” that are gifts for kids in the community. And it’s just about empty, again. So generous #BeUMC

I know it’s not even Advent but we’re traveling for Thanksgiving and the life of a clergy person means schedules are compressing soon. So it was either last Friday or December 23.
