Going through a manga class using Clip Studio Paint. It seems like the quintessential tool for manga and comics. Sure, you can use other tools for your comics but this one has built in brushes for screentones and gradients for hair fills. 🤯 And you need to know how to draw. 👀

I just watched a recommended animated horror short - because it’s animated. How scary could it be. (This is the wrong question. Animation is film and can use lighting and pacing just like any other type of film media). It started out as a beautiful #sliceoflife and then it was … too scary. 😱

Along the curb, wild pampas grass (susuki) bends gently in the crisp air, while fresh rainwater pooling on the wet flagstones reflects the bright sky and fiery foliage like sheets of stained glass. Created as the cover illustration for the free publication Metro Guide, distributed across Tokyo metro stations starting in September 2017, this piece reimagines the historical genre of meisho-e (pictures of famous views) through a contemporary watercolor lens. I saw a child riding his e-scooter in traffic. He had a helmet on but geez, he had no concept of which side of the road he was meant to be on - finally, he made it to the sidewalk and I pray that he stays there. Parents, do not let your children drive these unless they have had traffic training. 😱

I love sketching! I love urban sketching. I love the local group of urban sketchers. But they draw mostly urban scenes aka architecture whereas I prefer to draw humans when I’m out and about. (Sigh) it’s okay. It’s aligned if not a perfect match.

🍶THE CHRYSANTHEMUM FESTIVAL💦 'Chōyō-no-Sekku' (重陽の宴) was 1 of 5 seasonal festivals imported from the mainland and celebrated by the imperial court. Held on the 9th day of the 9th month, it became familiarly known as 'Kiku-no-Sekku' (菊の節句), the 'Feast of Chrysanthemums'. #重陽の宴 #chrysanthemum #Kyoto

A sweet inspired by cotton draped on chrysanthemum flowers. Traditionally women of the court would collect dew gathered on chrysanthemums by draping strips of cotton on the flowers. This was then used as an early form of beauty product, as it was believed to have rejuvenating qualities.
