South Sun tram-train would’ve made a huge difference if it’d been in place just now - avoids Princes St/Waverley but would connect at Murrayfield/depot and could extend to Leith Port and Newhaven

Could be fixed with bike-only light phase instead of just advance green for bikes? Hardly any advance lights in Glasgow but the wee bike traffic lights are common on new infra. Recent city centre lanes on Cowcaddens Rd maybe more like-for-like. (Dumbreck Rd, above, is out at SW City Way/Pollok Park)

Yes, I had trouble with app/dock but partner was fine. I figured some Gtr Manc councils hadn’t signed up? Still poor as area not clear to visitors. Maybe spent more time on design touches than system? Did like the hexagonal (honeycomb) pedals!

Glasgow and Edinburgh got Voi bike share last year. Really heavy e-bikes but smooth ride with phone holder. Edinburgh only covers just outside city centre but Glasgow area expanded. Availability in both can be sparse around edges. I was lucky to get last one in Parkhead, Glasgow during the week.

I’ve only used Bee/Starling bikes in Manchester once. Availability was fine and decent bikes. Just that coverage area stopped before our destination (Station South on Fallowfield Loop). Had to go back to ditch them at Uni campus then walk. App seemed better on partner’s Android than my iPhone.

A few places in the UK already have them, like BBC’s Pacific Quay, Glasgow. If it works there it should work in most of the rest of UK?

Another option in Scotland/UK is ‘fire paths’, filters for emergency vehicles. I thought we’d stopped doing them but a new one has just been installed in Glasgow (at Cowcaddens Rd). Not sure how well it works yet.

A wee bit of context would go a long way… Which encyclopaedia (when)? I guess Selkirk v Yarrow refers to Carterhaugh Ba' Game? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scot... So, a mob/village ba’ game (like in Jedburgh or Kirkwall). It’d help if it clarified that’s closer to rugby than football but would be surprise

Good to see. In Scotland some city hospital bike parking is decent but less so in towns. Hardly any have segregated cycletracks to them. A few have shared paths (Ayrshire Central, RAH Paisley). I helped upgrade the staff bike parking in my Board but very little appetite to improve the rest

Scottish/UK police are similar on bike crime. I use these 6-bike hangars in Glasgow city centre (added for UCI champs). App controls lock and only 50p-£1 for up to 24 hours. See: cyclehoop.rentals/types/short-... Not that well known/used sadly. However, the long stay residential versions are busy.

Seems they’re after suburban votes. AT and congestion charge stuff is really short sighted. Missed their visit to Coia’s in Dennistoun - notorious locally for parking their SUVs on corner! My issue with parking plans was 1-ways with no 2-way exemption for cycling (apparently Police Scotland object)

He knew before that 1st book (Kilmarnock edition, July 1786) sold fairly well but didn’t make him that much money. Leith boat was booked for late December. It was probably signing the deal for his 2nd book (Edinburgh edition, April 1787) which swung it. See: burnsc21.glasgow.ac.uk/robert-burns...

Fair enough but is there potential to improve entrances into Central Station? Could we widen access to Gordon St (current frontage juts out)? Could there be an accessible side entrance onto Union St (currently steps)? I’d want heritage respected but see what we can upgrade (esp fire proofing).
