This video features me, played by Seth MacFarlane and definitely not a different Seth!

Also, I don't have any intentions of replaying Persona 4. I loved the story and even some of the gameplay but Persona games are just too much of a commitment for me.

Persona 4 is a game I just finished last year and since it's fresh in my mind it's really weird hearing the new voice actors for characters I've grown to like a lot. The visuals are fantastic, but I'm way too sensitive to voice changes to not be constantly distracted by them.

The Resident Evils and Tomb Raider look really good. Both are franchises I'm sure an alternate universe me who didn't grow up on Nintendo consoles would be eating up right now.

I have Mario Kart World and I don't have Pikmin 4 but think I probably should play it so those getting updates is cool, but who knows when I'm gonna get around to actually playing them.

Overall thoughts: Metroid cool. It looks a lot like Metroid Dread but it seems like they're making the gross aliens a bigger part of the game which I like. Star Fox Adventures on NSO was a big surprise. I shoulda seen it coming but I didn't. I'd love to see Assault someday.

Okay, I accidentally totally predicted the name of the game. I was thinking in my head "Oh, he's breaking the wall, I guess this is Kirby: The World Beyond or something" and I was totally right.

I can't believe the Persona series just Elder Scrolls VI'd us.

Eternal Anima is what I think all those HD-2D games should have looked like. It has the same style of lighting effects and environments, but the difference is the models that inhabit those environments actually fit the artstyle instead of being distracting by being sprites.

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

I have Mario Kart World. Maybe I should... play it some time.

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Yooooooo, this new Metroid looks sick! It looks like they've brought back the biological disgustitude that I felt was lacking from Dread! Looking great!

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

You know, an escape room inspired game made by the Overcooked team is an interesting concept and I'm super into the artstyle. Definitely a game I'll say looks interesting and never pick up but whenever I think about it I'll say "oh yeah, that was pretty neat".

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

It's Pikmin 3 challenge mode with a different name, which I'm not complaining about.

I love hearing the Generic Nintendo Direct Script being read by a different voice like they thought they could get that past us.

000

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Okay, Star Fox Adventures on Switch Online is definitely not something I was expecting to see. I guess I could have seen it coming when they put so much focus on it in the Star Fox reveal and none of the other games, but I didn't expect this to be why they did that.

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Sylveon accessory? Okay, they know how to appeal to me specifically.

Alright, Nintendo Direct 2.0. Let's go.

It's dawning on me that I haven't liked a new Zelda game since 2013. Haven't play TPHD or SSHD, but I'd probably like them just fine, so that would bring that year up a bit, but for actually new Zelda games, nothing's really worked for me. I might be a fake Zelda fan, guys.

I'm glad there are people who are excited for the remake. I wish I could be, but it just doesn't gel with me. But something you should never do is let my (or anyone's) pessimism get in the way of your ability to feel excitement and passion for something you love.

Yeah, I was saying I might cancel the OoT let's play because I was worried the new game might overshadow the points I was trying to make with it, but, honestly, from what I've seen the new game exemplifies the points I was trying to make. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems that way.

000

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Star Fox was interesting because I didn't like it at first, but by the end of the presentation I was sold on it. The graphics were overly realistic but unrealistic enough in a way that gave it charm. Ocarina of Time is just realistic in a way that doesn't have any charm to me.

000

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

I've been wanting an update to the story that explores the themes of the game more thoroughly, makes the characters have a bigger impact on the story and has the characters interact with Link in a way that gives them all more character. It's hard to tell if it's gonna deliver.

000

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Yeah, I'm really not sure how to feel about it. There is such thing as too much detail and I think the game has too much detail. The cutscenes are giving me pause because they have more personality, but I can't tell if they're what I've been looking for in an OoT remake.

000

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

From the looks of it, the Ocarina of Time remake is just gonna be another faithful remake where they fiddle with the dialogue to make it feel new. Changing the presentation without actually changing the way the story was told. Hard to tell for sure since they didn't show much.

000

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Okay, I'm not gonna lie, but I'm REALLY not vibing with the Ocarina of Time Remake's graphics. It really looks like all those fangames where they make the game look as realistic as possible but completely misunderstand the visual style of the original game.

For some reason I thought the Zelda Direct was tomorrow so I'm 10 minutes late so, uhhh... I'll be livetweeting as I watch on double speed to catch up. So far I've gotten to the Movie release announcement. Not really something I care about until they actually show stuff from it.

I don't know, I don't want to declare the series cancelled outright at the moment, mainly because it is hard to let go of years of work, a lot of which hasn't even been seen yet, but it really doesn't feel like there's a point right now. I'll see how I feel after the Direct.

000

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

It's been hard to get motivated to make it since it's been a lot of work and it got basically no response at all. I know views and stuff shouldn't matter, but when you spend years planning and 10s of hours per video executing, getting nothing back is really disheartening.

100

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

A big part of my thesis for the series is what I would want in another remake of the game and now there's another remake coming out. Maybe it addresses my issues with the game, maybe it won't. Maybe if it doesn't I'll just keep on with it, but I don't know.

100

DarrklingMuffin @darrklingmuffin.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

It might just be because I'm very tired and possibly getting sick, but with the announcement of the Direct that will inevitably contain information about the Ocarina of Time remake, I'm not sure I want to continue my let's play of it.
