He’d blink twice as they stared back at him, his eyes looking away as he began to feel his cheeks heat up. “Sooooo, let’s find the games,” he said taking Lulu’s hand and walking over to the arcade section.

“You sure…? Because I disagree,” he said, stopping for a moment as his eyes locked with Lulu’s. “At the very least, I feel my life has been better for having you in it. So if you aren’t your own good luck charm…You’re definitely mine.”

100

“Think you can pull it off? You’ve been winning something everywhere we go,” he teased

100

“Maybe we should find another part of this cruise to explore before we end up filling our bag in the arcade,” he said with a weak chuckle. “Unless there was another game you wanted to play first?”

“There’s a lot I want to ask. About Eleanor, how you met your Umbreon, more about the history of Dark-types, and perhaps what could be done to give them a better future. But I guess right now, I’m curious what I might learn from battling probably the most accomplished Dark-type trainer in the —

Kael was quiet for a moment, taking in her words and thinking about how, while he had never explicitly known about the discrimination Dark-types faced, there had been plenty of instances where he’d seen it firsthand, as well as the behavior that might have prompted such a response. “You’ve made —

“True, and we still have one final spin left. Would you want to do the honors and see what the final prize is?”

Talonflame accepted, nibbling at the muffin and drinking some water before letting out an appreciative chirp. Before taking off, it tapped at the map with its beak, pointing toward the X at the top of Mt. Silver. What waited for Chiyo at the top of the summit? There was only one way to find out.

As promised, Talonflame would nosedive before pulling up at the last moment, landing gently on Chiyo’s shoulder. A small letter was strapped a pouch around its neck, along with a map with an X marked. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚? 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮, 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙜𝙞𝙛𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪. —𝙆𝙖𝙚𝙡

“No need to apologize. It makes sense for someone in your position, and I’m sure the League is better because of it,” he said, accepting the tea and letting it steep as he considered how best to answer what should have been a simple question. “As things stand, I think I fall more on the research —

[For @karen.pokenavs.net] As promised, Kael arrived at the East Gate earlier than necessary, having a thorough debrief with his Pokemon about staying in their balls and being on their best behavior, which was directed explicitly toward his own Umbreon and Munchlax. After a brief wait to verify —

A clicking sound came with a turn of the knob and another capsule fell revealing a second prize. This one was part of the featured set, offering a small model Litwick that also functioned as a small desk light. “Oooo, that one’s pretty useful,” Kael said tilting his head while looking at it.

“After seeing the look on your face, I’m sure,” said with another gentle push, as he nodded and stepped back to see what they’d pull from a second spin of the machine.
