Many cis people have never examined (or don't believe in examining) their gender. They just accept it as something that can't be changed. I firmly believe this is a contributing factor to cis people lashing out at trans people for changing something they don't see as changeable within themselves.

I've been on BS for a while. Not sure how long, but I was one of the batches of people waiting for an invite before it totally opened to the public. Yes, there's definitely more hostility on the platform now. But it's still pretty good. Unlike other platforms we can at least report for harassment.
