I once had a really old monitor that was acting strange. Sometimes it would shut off, and pressing the power button wouldn't do anything. The only way to turn it back on was to unplug the power cord for 5 seconds and plug it back in.

Mystery Quest on NES plays that card too. You have to beat the game 4 times to get the "best" ending, but both endings are just a black screen with a few lines of text. Infinite continues, but no save battery or password system. All progress is lost when you turn the NES off. It's so dirty.

How about the Bandai Hyper Shot? It's only used for ONE game, Space Shadow on NES/Famicom.

The box for Bandai's Hyper Shot, which is similar to the Nintendo Light Zapper but looks like a sub-machine gun. It was sold with "Space Shadow" on NES.

I think it's all about experience in dealing with AI, and also understanding how modern tech works. I'm 43 and i'm starting to spot GenAI fanart more often. I remember certain details that I often see in fakes. Gen-X can be taught to spot AI but only if they are willing to learn.

But I can see some disagreement between age groups. Video games of the 80s never really tell you anything in-game, they just dump you right into the action as soon as you press start. If you don't understand what one of the items does, you look it up in the book. Now they just tell you on screen.
