Imagine explaining why Thrawn is such a big deal to someone that didn't read the books, watch Rebels or know anything about the lore. Without all that context he's just a blue baddie that no one cares about. Put Vader back in and you have an instant hit, because EVERYONE knows him.

I honestly don't think Star Wars will ever be as big as it once was. My kids were mildly interested in it growing up but they couldn't care less now. The longer these things go on for the more convoluted they become and people outside of super nerds just don't have the time 🤷

There's a good reason why no one wants to see a sequel or remake of 'Gone with the wind'. They're all dead lol. Maybe Star Trek has had it's day, maybe Star Wars is on its way there. We're all guilty of it tho. 'wouldn't It be cool if'. We should be careful what we wish for lol.

There's a certain point when you saturate the fans with so much 'meh' they stop caring and move on to other things. Just look at the awful place Star Trek ended up in, everything cancelled, franchise in tatters...

Absolutely. I think people forget that Star Wars's primary reason for existing after Esb was to sell toys and merch, and as much as I love Star Wars maybe they need to make it for this generation or not at all, it'll still make lots of money movies or not.

Here's the thing. Star Wars just isn't culturally as significant anymore, it's still chasing the nostalgia factor of the genX and early millennials AND trying to appeal to new audiences whilst trying desperately to divorce themselves from Lucas's vision........ 🙄

Oh, I'm aware. But those things are as the link says special locations and also not all that common to encounter. The core of the game is still 'Fallout', it's dark and full of moral ambiguity, Bethesda took the goofy side and slowly made it the core identity of the franchise.

BG3 is by no means a complex game. It's depth comes from it's variety and it's an amazing way into the genre. As much as I'm a crpg purist, Im not against FPS fallout, I just wish they'd put in RPG mechanisms that don't, well , suck 🤷. Sadly 'rpg' seems to mean very little these days..

Depends what you mean by more fallout. The goofy fallout 4 and 76, the gritty post apocalyptic RPG of fallout 1,2 and (less so) New Vegas, or 3 which was a (kind of) hybrid of them all ?
