NativePal is getting a makeover 💅 To make it consistent with the new paywalls and upcoming scenarios feature 🤩 - Text instead of icons and moved suggestions for better UX - Even more gradienty and blurry UI 😁 - Experimenting with Shadcn UI What do you think? #buildinpublic

Currently just looks like a chat ☺️

Experimenting with UI for the new "Scenarios" feature. Want to step away from the basic chat layout and make it a bit more game-like. I think I like how it looks so far (still WIP) but would love to hear opinions 🥹 #buildinpublic

Let me know what you think, I’d love feedback to make it better! P.S. started working on the scenarios UI to make it immersive, this is a very raw version, but a sneak peek at what’s coming ☺️ Hope to ship it next week!

We're working on a new feature in NativePal: practice specific scenarios to master the situational vocabulary you need. A quick 5-minute chat before heading into a cafe for 'un café con leche de avena, por favor' 😝 #buildinpublic

January was very productive for NativePal 🥹 - Suggestions for things to write/say - Audio messages from pals for listening practice - Voice messages + pronunciation analysis for speaking practice - Various ASO experiments More coming in February!

Daria 💙🌍🫶🏽 @dariadroid.flutter.community · 31/01/2025

It’s approved on iOS!!! 1.6.0 with speaking practice is out 🥹 In review in PlayStore too, so hoping it will be out on Android super soon too 😍

020

Daria 💙🌍🫶🏽 @dariadroid.flutter.community · 31/01/2025

And NativePal 1.6.0 is sent for review on iOS (and Android following asap), which will finally introduce speaking practice 🤩 Also testing a new icon 🐱

Current state of voice messages and speech analysis in NativePal, some polishing and should be available to everyone in a couple of days 🥹 #buildinpublic

Daria 💙🌍🫶🏽 @dariadroid.flutter.community · 20/01/2025

First look at the upcoming voice messages feature 😍 Speaking practice is the most important in language learning and this should help with conversation skills 🥹 UI is still WIP, not sure where the best place is for the mic icon. And also speech analysis is in progress! #buildinpublic

Between big features of NativePal I try to occasionally insert some UI polishing and I think the new first screen turned out cute 🥹 P.S. I’ll probably redo the onboarding flow entirely eventually, but for now it’s this 🤪 #buildinpublic

The day has come: unless Playstore flips out on me again 🤞🏽, Android users will finally be able to enjoy all of the new features of NativePal 🤪 50+ languages, custom pals, notifications, suggestions and audio messages (with “bug fixes & performance improvements” ofc 😁)

Daria 💙🌍🫶🏽 @dariadroid.flutter.community · 12/01/2025

Sending audio messages from pals to AppStore review tomorrow 🤩 Added an option to speed it up if you want level hard or slow down to make sure you get everything 🥰 p.s. when in doubt, just slap on a mesh gradient 😂 via O’Mesh by @renan.flutter.community of course! #buildinpublic

Our pals now have voices!!! 🥹 First step to full listening / speaking support. UI is just a working version to test the API, will come up with something nicer when it will be ready for release ☺️ #buildinpublic

The second one is “like Duolingo, but for ADHD” 🤪 I’m going to make it a collection at this point 😂

070

Daria 💙🌍🫶🏽 @dariadroid.flutter.community · 17/12/2024

Can this like stop 😂 I understand that Duolingo is sensational in their marketing approach, but this is too much 😂 And I’ve just started screenshoting them YESTERDAY because I was fed up, in reality I’ve seen too many “like Duolingo, but…” ads, it’s crazy 🤪

Unobvious benefit of learning languages: understand comments in all three (english, spanish, russian) in the chat 😂

And new NativePal screenshots are coming to the stores, I'm in love with these, it's such luck to find a designer who's 100% catching your vibes 🤩 #buildinpublic

Daria 💙🌍🫶🏽 @dariadroid.flutter.community · 16/12/2024

I use GPT models for the whole app, but for this feature experimented with Gemini on the client side (Firebase Vertex AI for Flutter is an amazing plug & play solution). But it keeps ignoring the prompt and often inserts English placeholders 🥲

Daria 💙🌍🫶🏽 @dariadroid.flutter.community · 16/12/2024

Initially, NativePal was intended for intermediate language learners, but analytics and actual feedback show that most learners select the beginner level, and it's hard to start chatting right away. So working on showing suggestions that should help break the ice ☺️ #buildinpublic

Daria 💙🌍🫶🏽 @dariadroid.flutter.community · 10/12/2024

Starting the test! You can test up to 3 variations at a time in the AppStore and I chose those variations that got most mentions in the comments to my posts here/on X for the initial test 🤩 #buildinpublic

Those early baby numbers, but they make me so happy because they validate the interest in our Trigger Journal app 🥹💙 And we have a lot of plans on enhancing the app in January 🤩

Daria 💙🌍🫶🏽 @dariadroid.flutter.community · 08/12/2024

The next big update for NativePal is the support of native language. Previously it was default English for everyone, now you can select from 50+ languages. Localising all of this was a lot of "fun" and I'm sure a lot of fixing is yet to come as AI is also not perfect in every language just yet 🙈

Daria 💙🌍🫶🏽 @dariadroid.flutter.community · 06/12/2024

I know it, I know it! I also love telling the story and I think this year I’ll finally get myself my own log 😁 For now just got this guy as a souvenir to my mum 😂 iykyk

A set of new icons to A/B test for NativePal 😍 I like most of them, it’s hard to choose my favourite so I’m excited to see which performs best. Gradients make me feel things 😂 Which one would you prefer for a chat based language learning app?

Daria 💙🌍🫶🏽 @dariadroid.flutter.community · 22/11/2024

Next week's update of @NativePal will be a big one: we expanded our support from 9 languages to 50+ (well, this needs to be tested, as not all the languages perform great with OpenAI). And the users will now be able to create their own custom characters, not select only the predefined ones 🤩

I didn’t find time to work on this app in between workout sessions this time, but I still tested it again today and thanks to the timer functionality, finished a regular workout 15-20 min faster 😝 And found another bug, but also definitely learned something new, happy with it so far! #buildinpublic

Unbelievable, but once again an Apple submission was as smooth as butter, whereas Google Play is responsible for more and more of my gray hairs 🫠 At least Trigger Journal for iOS is almost out! Today/tomorrow for the US and next week for everyone else 🤩 Finally!!!

Tried out Brain Gym in the gym today 😁 Didn’t open social media a single time! And found a million things to better the UX, as well as really felt that integration with language learning would be amazing 🤩 Let’s see what I can fix until the next workout 😅 #buildinpublic

So day 2 working on Brain Gym, added history and actual tracking of the set pauses, so the bare minimum mechanics are now in place! Going to field test the mechanics tomorrow in the gym, let’s see how many times Brain Gym will win over Instagram/Bluesky/Twitter 😁 #buildinpublic

Daria 💙🌍🫶🏽 @dariadroid.flutter.community · 11/11/2024

In between the sets in the gym I tend to open social media and mindlessly scroll… I also can’t be bothered to use an actual timer, so I decided to build an app in which I can spend the time between sets without falling back to social media 🤪 And a convenient timer 😁 Quick prototype: #buildinpublic
