More than 20 coal proposals in NSW are affected and the ruling could reach every coal and gas project in the country. Congratulations to DAMSHEG and their mighty legal team at Johnson Legal.
THIS IS A MAJOR WIN FOR CLIMATE ACCOUNTABILITY.
CONGRATULATIONS TO DAMSHEG AND THEIR MIGHTY LEGAL TEAM AT JOHNSON LEGAL.

Planning authorities now have to consider the local climate damage caused by coal and gas projects, and that includes the emissions from coal burned overseas.
EXPORTED EMISSIONS COUNT
This case creates a precedent. Climate impacts caused by coal and gas projects cannot be ignored when governments decide whether a project should go ahead.

The seat of Northcote is on a knife edge and is the most marginal seat in Victoria. Preston is also on a very small margin so every single vote will count in determining which candidates are successful in getting elected.

Our message to global leaders: we need solar power everywhere by the decade’s end | Open letter
As the UN gathers, signatories from Bernie Sanders to Yeb Saño issue an open letter calling for clean power for all
015
Darebin Climate Action Now @darebincan.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Solar, wind and batteries are now the cheapest and fastest way to bring power bills down, and the shift is already underway with places as different as California and Pakistan showing how quickly it can happen.
111
Darebin Climate Action Now @darebincan.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
The second is to build clean power everywhere, creating a movement strong enough to push governments to stop building coal, oil and gas projects we no longer need and start building clean energy instead.
111
Darebin Climate Action Now @darebincan.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
The letter asks for two things. Firstly, build clean power for everyone, starting with the one in 10 people on earth who live without reliable electricity. The letter says it takes just US$15 to give one person clean power for a generation.
111
Darebin Climate Action Now @darebincan.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
The letter starts from the link between war & warming. The oil that governments fight over is the same oil that's heating the planet. It's also the cause of polluted air in Delhi, the price of fuel in Vietnam, the cost of electricity in the US & the floods in the Himalayas. All fossil fuel related.

As world leaders meet at the UN this week, an open letter signed by Bernie Sanders, Saul Griffith, Christiana Figueres, Jane Fonda, Bill McKibben & Danny Kennedy among others, calls for clean, affordable energy for everyone, everywhere by 2030. #CleanPowerForAll #DarebinClimateActionNow #Electrify
AS WORLD LEADERS MEET AT THE UN, AN OPEN LETTER ASKS THEM TO BRING SOLAR POWER TO EVERYONE BY 2030.
Close to a billion people still live without reliable electricity. The letter says it takes just US$15 to give one person clean power for a generation.
