...Not just hard, but with low enough funding rate + high enough uncertainty about timelines /scale, I think it's actually *impossible* to robustly end up with just the right amount of work you've obligated yourself to do. I kinda want to make this model and prove that there's no good strategy here.

The distinction may be more between data that can be collected directly, and data that requires a human observation or judgment call, e.g., online surveys of adults, vs an RA watching a child in an experiment (live or videoed) and coding their choices and answers, regardless of format

What are people’s thoughts on semester long vs. year long sabbaticals? Is a year worth it, or is a semester + summer already good enough? In this specific case, a pay cut is involved for a year, but it would not delay the next sabbatical. Inquiring minds who are me want to know!

have you ever seen dogs get in a fight with each other? I also know an untrained medium size dog (50lbs) with a strong prey drive who surprised a deer and promptly took it down. If we go with the premise that the dog is in it to win it, my money’s on the dog

People either have a very different size dog in mind for “medium size”, or they’re wrong. I assume e.g., German Shepard is large. At a size smaller, If a border collie, pit bull or Australian Shepherd really wants to destroy you, it will. You can probably take a corgi, cocker spaniel or beagle
